Strange that you can't choose between platforms.

    //More edits. //Edited in some more thought's.

Ok having played the Closed Alpha the performance in this Closed Beta is A LOT BETTER. Constant 60fps. Good stuff! However I wonder if it is because it is running on low settings? It doesn't look very good... So some thoughts.

    I like:

    • Love the menu music. Love all of the music, it's great A+. Still waiting to be told who is doing it. :)
    • Smooth.
    • Responsive.
    • Really like the the gib sound. So... bloody!
    • Customising your buddy guy. Nice to stand out and make your own look
    • Double Barreled Shotgun is hella satisfying. //I fucking love this gun.
    • The lava industrial map is good. Clean and easy to read for the most part.
    • Alt-Tabs easily with no crashes. //BIG PLUS FOR ME +++++
    • Meaty sound on the chaingun. Budda-Budda-Budda.
    • I can appreciate the double jump as a compromise for pogo and or bunnyhopping on multi platform. (Console scrubs)
    • Armour color's having Matte Gloss and Metallic along with patterns, etc. You can create some really cool looking stuff. I just wish the armour itself looked more interesting.
    • I like the grapple up walls mechanic. I feel like Master Thief Garrett.

    Not so keen on:

    • Loadouts.
    • Hack cards or whatever they are called.
    • It can get very busy on screen with all the particles and effects going off. When your weapons rely on direct hits to have any real chance to kill this gets very difficult to track your target.
    • FOV is too low.
    • Weapons are too big. Might just be the FOV as mentioned.
    • So far the armour I have unlocked for my character when I level up all pretty much looks the same. Not much variety in what's there.
    • Rocket launcher feels a bit underwhelming compared to the double barrel shotgun. So far the DBS is a no brainer choice it just wrecks face. //Just to clear this up a little more I don't mean as in damage but underwhelming as in use and feel. It's size on my screen is an annoyance as well. It just feels like a big cardboard tube stuck to me taking up a 3rd of my view space.
    • How quickly you level up and gain unlocks. Though I am assuming this is just for the Beta so everyone can see whats about.
    • Need some of that banging music in game as you play.
    • Players make footstep sounds but they are very very quiet, so you have no bearings on enemies in your proximity. I.E in Quake 3 you'd tell where people are as they'd make jump noises.
    • Like the sound mentioned above, hit feedback from the weapons in general feels completely absent. I see a big yellow number but in the chaos of all the particles, motion blur, big weapons filling my screen I hardly ever notice this. MY crosshair blinking and a hitsound would be preferable here I think.
    • I'm aware this isn't Quake but the lack of airstrafe feels like a handicap in this. But then I wonder how you'd even do that with a rubbish console controller. Fucking consoles.

    Really don't like:

    • Demon runes. I dislike these so much I alt F4'd during a game. //I find myself Alt-F4ing out of a lot of games due to sheer frustration and annoyance when the Demon rune gets picked up a lot. It's ruining an otherwise enjoyable experience for me.
    • The long ass intermissions.
    • People camping the bloody demon runes.
    • Melee kills take control away and make you a stationary target so you become an easy kill.
    • Zero indication you are taking damage and from where or what. //The more I play the more I see this as a problem in the beta. I have had numerous instances where guys are punching me up the butthole for a good 5 or so seconds before I even realised I was getting my prostate examined.
    • Team Deathmatch is just camp the demon rune and run around as a giant wreckingball.
    • Motion Blur. This results in a real hard time tracking your target as everything is blurry. Combine this with all the particles and big weapons that I mentioned above and yeah, it gets tough and really frustrating when you are up close.
    • I've given it more of a chance but the announcer voice is just not doing it for me at all. Again, I'm aware that this isn't Quake but he just sounds like he's reading off a a vegans shopping list.

    Misc Issues:

    • As mentioned it looks really low res. Musssssttttt be set to low by default? Also it doesn't seem to be running in my native res (1680x1050) even though it is set to that in the video options.
    • I can't look at the scoreboard on the respawn menu as it (tab) cycles through those annoying deck card things.
    • Alt-Tabbing gives me a desktop resolution of 1280x800. I dunno if this is to do with what I mention above in regards to my resolution in game.
    • Alt-F4ing keeps the screen in 1280x800. I have to set it back to native manually.

Enjoying it so far and it is beta after all so of course there will be issues.

Double Barrel Shotgun for dayyyzzzzzz son.

Good feedback, I'll pass it along. Sound/music is done internally, Chris Hite is our sound director here.

Similar to how I can make my armor dirty, I want a slider to just make him covered in blood. I also want like demon horns growing larger through my helmet and shit as I get more kills. I might be a psychopath.

So it turns out I DID pre-order Wolf, damn I'm hyped to try this out tonight!

edit: played some. Fun! I really like the visuals. Not a huge fan of the announcer voice or movement (yet). Signaling on the pickups except for armor was crazy poor, they were entirely color based and the shapes of the boxes were not useful to my understanding at all. I will say however that gathering shards of armor off of enemy corpses and the way they rag doll out was super, super fun.

Of the two maps in the beta, I prefer the lava one. Felt like the other one was trying to get me to look in the top left or top right of my screen all the time, highly annoying angles to me. When I got instadinked + heard the announcer in my ear + just spawned all at the same time, it's pretty rage inducing. I like the zoom in rifle a lot, but the rocket launcher felt pretty puny, like a laggy neutered laser rifle basically cause it has zero significant splash damage. I wanted to use it but felt bored by its firepower. Same with the sidearm shotgun.

overall I could definitely see myself playing it for a good time, it has a clear appeal in terms of aiming and basic loot control. I'm not seeing that much depth simply because the movement seems so uninspired. I like the ledge grabbing stuff so hopefully there's some well disguised depth there that I'm not picking up on. The levels look fucking great, 10/10. Very much looking forward to the Single-player in this universe.

Before I go on a rant about some blur and other unpleasant things, I should probably try the game.

However, I can't really start the beta, the intro video (BET logo) lags so much, like 1 FPS, then if I click to try and get rid of it, the game crashes =/ Also, it starts on the wrong monitor =)

This is a bug and happens with me and a lot of other people. You just gotta sit there and let it do its thing unfortunately. Luckily it only does it the first time you start the game.

This is a modern day console game so it wants to show you all 73 intro videos about all of the developers mothers You're gonna be sat there a while.

Taunts need to be made so you can use them on the end round podium. No one uses them in game because = dead.

Yes it is far far far too long. That's why I'm happy about it being stable with Alt-Tabbing so I can go watch youtube while it counts down.

Clicking before you see the splash screen can still crash it, but it'll get there quicker this way.

I'm really enjoying the beta so far. Static Rifle, Rocket Launcher and Siphon Grenade seems to be the load out of choice I've slipped into playing. I prefer having the range of the Rocket Launcher over the close quarter advantages of the shotgun. Hit someone with a charged static shot and then finish them off with the launcher usually does the trick, the Siphon Grenade is handy for making people panic.

The Demon spawn does bother me, if you get it it's just easy points for you/your team, somewhat takes the skill out. I do think It'd be more fun and balanced without having that raandomised frustration.

I like being able to customise the wear and tear on my armour and gear, that's a nice touch.

Would really love to get the chance to test it out with some extra settings. Having the FOV locked so low is really bothersome for example.

Of the two maps the Hell themed one is my favorite. I much prefer the tighter spaces and the verticality that map offer. You get the height advantage with my loadout, and you can very quickly put people in their place. I also found it much quicker to learn the layout as the various sections are all a bit more distinct from each other. Though I feel both maps in general suffer from being rather too even in their style/theme/lighting/whatever, all the rooms somewhat blur together which doesn't help navigation.

Oh and the music is awesome.
