Shut up and take my money!
War for the Overworld

Ah I was waiting for somebody to make a new game in the vein of Dungeon Keeper. May the demons of the underworld be with them!
-
I backed 35£ in that game. The fact that it's being made by hardcore fans of DK1 is great, they even have Richard Ridings on board.
-
I am looking forward to it, and I've backed it. But it worries me that it currently looks worse to me than DKII at the moment, DKII had such a cool cohesive art style that in my eyes has really stood the test of time. All that super-contrasty dynamic light and a rather scatter-shot colour scheme. Not to mention I am not a big fan of those bright glowing red gems on every player owned tile. But if they get the tone and game play down, I might be able to look past those issues just to get another fix of the genre. I'm currently playing DKII through again for the nth time, I never tire of it.

Well there's also Impire which is coming out next week. So far I'm not impressed by that game and given the developers trackrecord I don't have high expectations. But taste differs so maybe it's of interest to others. More info here:

I'm with you JB. I'm just glad we finally get something new. I just wonder how much they can look the same without getting into legal problems?
-
Impire looks pretty shit tbh, not much in common with dungeon keeper at all.
-
i'm pretty excited about this, but it does look bad.

Strangely enough, there are almost no reviews of Impire. I'm waiting for the new Gameplay magazine to see what they have to say about it.
-
Apparently, you are very limited in how you build your dungeon. That's a deal breaker for me.

Like I said, shit. The initial video TB did months ago pretty much gave you the same insight.

I bought Impire based on the first 40 minutes of gameplay.
It's really enjoyable, well worth 20 buckaroos!

What makes it enjoyable for you Rick? I'd really like to know. I see lots of complaining about the ladders and building options. It would be nice to hear about the positive things as well.

Impire was crashing too much for me

ill wait for a few patches
its good, definitely not a DK, but still a fun micro based RTS.

Bedrock Beta is out:
-
For the moment it's more like an early alpha version than anything else. Still, it's very cool to see how close that game is to DK and I'm pretty sure it will become a true successor.
