Haha, no. How else would they sell their UHD players?

Didn't they say that to publish a "4K" game you have to also support the standard console? So you can't drop support, I understand, eventually you would drop PS completely.

Sony do not sell 4K UHD Blue-Ray players, nor make them.

They sell upscaling drives for regular Blue-Ray and have media streamers and televisions, which although can take advantage of a 'true' UHD 4K signal, they simply do not manufacture or sell such a device.

If you crunch the numbers on market penetration, manufacture costs and consumer demand - you got another 3 years until you have to do anything about it.

When it comes to electronics, when Sony move, so does the industry.

I would be guessing but I believe Microsoft are taking a hit with this "S" model, and probably an even bigger hit when their other console gets released @ some point - they really do not have a clue about how to respect gamers, they really don't.

I'm thinking Spring next year we'll get an annoucement or possibly a product from Sony on 4K UHD Drives, but considering the way the market is, I wouldn't bet on it. I think they showed a prototype, but nothing concrete - humbled to be corrected on anything I've said on this...

Chicken or egg, guys - what do consumers buy first? the 4K UHD Television, or the 4K UHD Player?

PS VR is getting some surprisingly good reviews considering it's the cheaper out of the 3. The fact that it's a boxed product with quite a few games hand crafted for it specifically kind of helps too.

Apparently the image is pretty sharp, maybe even sharper than the Vive, even though the games are obviously lower res than it's PC counterparts they seem to look sharper and smoother?

So far, the consensus seems to be that the hardware is very decent, and the limited launch lineup for it is actually fairly good. The only question from me right now is what does the long term looks like for PS VR? It's possible it's another "move" gimnick, something that in a few years people will forget about it. I think only good software can save VR right now and Sony knows this based on the fact that Resident Evil 7 VR is exclusive to PlayStation VR for a year.

If you're curious, here's all games that'll be out for it:http://blog.us.playstation.com/2016/10/05/pla…eup-and-beyond/

I'm glad I waited on the VR craze tho, I think I'm getting the PS VR for the ease of use alone.

    I'm getting it next week!

What VR needs is a killer game. A Super Mario 64, Ridge Racer or Halo. Something that truly justifies the technology.

Don't know where else to post this, but this is great news for PC users.

Valve will release an update to allow full configuration of the Dualshock 4 controller on Steam.

fucked up that Valve was the one to actually make the DS4 work with all pc games easily instead of Sony or Microsoft. It is rad, though, that you can rebind buttons for any game on a per-game basis, including stuff that a PS4 couldn't even do, like gyro controls/aiming.

It will be even better when I will be able to map something like a fightstick to any game without worrying about directinput and xinput and even the way buttons are mapped. Better than re-wiring the buttons when I want to play games not designed for a stick!

As far as I know the PS4 controller is found by the Steam Link without the need for any drivers, dongles or wires already! So yes :)

Really tempted to get one myself. I barely touch my vive these days, it's always a huge effort to do anything with it. Every time I bring someone new to try it some shit happens and I have to spend a lot of time troubleshooting. I just have no time and patience to be fucking around with this every ime I want to use.

Well, I'll wait a bit, hopefully the PSVR fixes most of my annoyances I have with the oculus and the vive (mostly the lack of standards and the constant troubleshooting). And also, I'm really stoked about proper sitting experiences, standing is cool for some kinds of games but not for the games that I want to play :)

Just the fact that RE7 VR version is PS VR exclusive, it's reason enough for me to wanna get this. :D

But yeah, the fact that this is an actual product makes this so much more appealing than Vive or Oculus.

Not sure to understand, but would think so, that these performance problems are due to the need of patches?

i would expect me games to run smoothly, but stuff that was already released needs more work and can't(?) Be expected to run perfectly out of the box?
