I don't think there's ever been a particularly great launch list, it's more the first year where things get going. But Sony has said they have all those unannounced titles, some of which could be launch. ![]()

yes, that's why i wont buy this day one, i will probably wait for some "starter pack" just like i did with ps3

Shieeeeet. I don't know about outside of the UK but Edge is like the most respected and authoritative games magazine here, so that's some pretty damning shit.

-
Pardon my french but that's a lot of sensationalist bullcrap. I expected more of you Edge...
-
With the reversal of MS policy, this seems anachronistic already; makes me think "yeah, that sums up why printed press is going out".
It also feels like flat-out marketing.
-
It is. They are trying to grab the headlines to shift some copies.
-
I can't say I have much faith in Microsoft right now due to the president bailing out, a month or so of apparent complete indirection, and basically just bad execution on every front. Nothing makes a brand look weaker than resolutely saying one thing is the future of gaming and then doing a complete u-turn, even if it has somehow made everyone see them in a much better light.
With that said, I don't like such sensationalist headlines. But Edge is usually above that, so I'm hoping the actual article is an analysis of where the XBone is heading based on up-to-date information and isn't about the DRM stuff at all. Edge usually prints topical stuff very close to publication so it's not as behind as you might expect.
-
Agreed, I'd expect them to be bit classier than this.
I'm definitely much more into the PS4 from what's been shown and said so far, but I'd still say that it would be premature to rule out Microsoft already. Even after all the bad news and abysmal work of communicating their ideas with the box that Microsoft has gone through, then I bet a lot can still happen between now and launch. Though the picture that's being drawn from the outside is that MS is definitely having some major internal issues, between the confused reveal in May, the DRM flip and Mattrick leaving.
Anyway, I've preordered a PS4. I'd like MS to try and convince me why I should do the same with an Xbone.
-
I don't mean the article is old, but just feels like it.
Agree that what they did showed weakness, but it was "that way or the highway"... with projected sales just above the level of the Kin phones
probably. On Mattrick leaving, i think that was a must, i mean: he's the face of the original "to the future!" vision, to stay wouldn't have been credible either.
Plus, after this Waterloo he probably got some heat from Ballmer (i've been reading in the past months he's been pushing away high-level staff since he was in charge).
-
Well for me the article is true, that is my next console. So I can't really criticise them.

Inde development:

So, an indie developer can release straight onto the Playstation 4 store and can even opt out of Sony giving them feedback. However, it's not totally open like the Vita Store and XBLIG and you will need to win Sony over first for a license and development kit. It actually sounds like a reasonable middle ground between a closed system and gamepad massages.
Weird, posting Gamasutra articles feels a bit like linking Kotaku these days.

Heard about this this morning from a work colleague. Very bad move if true, Sony.
-
What exactly does that mean "owning anything you make"?
Like if you make a good indie game, it's successful they're free to take the IP off your hands and make a AAA sequel without paying you a dime?

rambling as I watch the Sony press conference...
LBP Hub. Zzzzzzz.
Rockstar discount for PS3 GTAV preordering...sounds legit.
Vita price drop to $199. Nice...but still doesn't solve the Vita problem...though also planning price drops in memory cards which is much needed.
Borderlands 2 on Vita is a nice interesting thing...won't move hardware but still, I'd replay it on a roadtrip for sure.
Murasaki Baby was actually pretty interesting to watch. Cute. Doubt my wife would care, though.
Big Fest...didn't see that coming. Really interesting though I'm not totally clear on how this works yet. You'd have to spend a lot of time actually listening to music? Would that actually slow down the "gameplay" of it?
Seems like they were a bit heavy handed in beating us over the head with "Vita is awesome to develop for" and that time should have been filled with more demos of all the great new games they have for it.
eh...rambling...

Awesome presentation!

Also, One million PS4 pre-orders thus far, and it's out in North America on Nov 15, Nov 29 in EU.
