First trailer looks like a generic action movie; but the new one on the other had is what the first should have been. I'll see it now. I won't be watching any more trailers for it though. This new one really made it shine.

Nolan Fucking North in Star Trek 2!

    http://uk.kotaku.com/5912156/nolan-…likes-uncharted

    Quote

It seems like Nolan North is in everything. If there is a video game, and that video game has a voice cast, he is somehow bound to be in it somewhere.North is now best known for his starring role as Nathan Drake, in the PS3's Uncharted series. He's a smart-ass Indiana Jones for the modern era, wrecking ruins while chasing the artifacts they hold. And director J.J. Abrams, it seems, likes Nathan Drake just as much as the rest of us do. Speaking with Eurogamer, North confirmed that based on his work as Drake, Abrams had asked him to take a small role in the upcoming sequel to 2009's hit Star Trek reboot.

North credits the cinematic, narrative style of the Uncharted games as being "leaps and bounds" ahead of where storytelling in games stood even ten years ago, and insists that the ability of games to tell detailed, quality stories is "still going up."

Excellent news. Can't wait to see it. Did he tone down the lens flare?

I can't say I really noticed it that much in either film. It was definitely there in the sequel and I do think it's a nice trademark effect. The visuals and set pieces as a whole were incredible though, definitely a step up. Not seen such epic space action... well, ever.

Me neither but then the news broke about him doing Star Wars and a lot of lens flare parodies appeared. So I watched the first again and now that I did know, it bothered the shit out of me. I saw the first 15 minutes of the new one in Imax and it was amazing.

Saw it yesterday as well, really good movie!

Also made me feel better about him doing Starwars, minus the lens flares.

Yeah, can't wait to see what he does with Star Wars.

One thing that I really love about Abrams is that he knows how to take my breath away. Lots of directors can put together awesomely epic action scenes, but few can make me just sit there in stunned silence as a sequence unfolds. I'm never sure if I should be excited by the action or if I should prepare for some serious emotional rape. He's generally not afraid to kill off significant characters so you never quite know what's going to happen. I know from past experience that out of nowhere some much-loved character can just get fucked up in Abrams' works.

I absolutely loved the sequence where we're introduced to the guy with a dying daughter, and how he's driven to do what he does out of desperation to save her. The cinematography, music, and acting pull together so perfectly and it's essentially a beautiful short in itself. Then there're the major death/near-death sequences; I love how Abrams cuts the sound effects right back during these moments, letting just a few through and pumping the music right up. Good film making, man.

As a non-trekkie (I know a moderate amount about the franchise though) I didn't think much to the original, it was ok but nothing really stood out but this was absolutely brilliant! Cumberbatch was awesome and
