Not sure if this fits here, but just saw this trailer for Stealer (an indie? game) and it was frigging awesome.

I think they just did the retro thing super well, with nice references to Flashback, Leiji Matsumoto, early 90s games music, etc...

Now I have close to no idea what the game's gonna be all about, but that was a cool video

I've been following this for quite a while on TIGSource - the artwork is mindblowing. I'm more excited about Stealer than I have been about almost all AAA releases this year.

I don't even know what genre this is from the trailer. So indie.

what is the tigsource thread? is it in feedback?

also I have no idea what this is from the video. Some sort of pixel art movie?

Looks very awesome but I hope this is just not another indie platformer with a portal weapon or something, like all the other 90% indie games.

Man, if I hear the word Indie combined with one or more of these following buzzwords: retro, epic, pixel, ninjas, super, pirates and/or awesome, I will flip a switch

nah its just freaking annoying that it feels like you play one "indie" game, you played them all. even more so than with the generic modern military shooter. its all the same these days.

The shots near the end that looks like gameplay reminded me of Iji. 2d shooter/platformer, or maybe metroidvania.

the word indie directly puts me to the assumption that the game is made by williamsburg hipsters and that the gameplay consists entire of them trying to show me their "art", which is usually some convoluted way of saying something that would otherwise be (and honestly still is) trite as fuck. i don't care about hipsters, i don't care about their feelings or their "art". and i don't think they do either, because if they did, they'd put a hell of a lot more work into what they're doing to convey it.

What a way to generalise things Sentura.. if only like me you were trying to find a photo of the actual author of the game

what i wrote is what gets put into my head when i hear the word "indie". it's probably not an accurate depiction of the world of indie games, but that doesn't change my word association.

Hah well, I said indie for a lack of better word. I started writing mod but it ain't one, so what to call those games made by 2 peeps in their basement (or floral wallpapered room) to not make it sound hipster-y? Homemade game? Garage? Just game?

Regardless, I don't care all that much about this one in particular, just liked the "music video".
