I know this game has more controversy behind it than the name "Clinton"

But... try and set aside any opinions you might have on the Star Citizen / games industry telenovela, and watch this clip

I saw this the other day, I'm simply blown away by it. I know it's easy to jump onboard the negative bandwagon, but I absolutely love the sheer scope of this game. Well done to Chris Roberts, I wish him and the team all the success in the world! Hope they pull it off.

Should've posted the official video [Here if you want to edit your post], it's better quality, 60fps, and they fixed some bugs. I think it looks gorgeous and the tech behind everything is absolutely amazing. It's such a massive project though and it might take forever to finish, but I can really appreciate how open they are about their development cycle and how they don't bullshit or fake anything. I'm just a bit worried about the gameplay, hoping it won't get boring if you can't find anything to do. I know they're planning a lot of stuff like mining and farming, and it's multiplayer so that certainly helps, but I wonder how many different and interesting missions there will actually be like in that video. Whenever I get a pc that can handle a game like this I'll certainly check it out.

Also here's a cool video of them playing around in the editor:

I'm relatively new on the project but I'm happy to see that more and more people are warming up to the idea that we can pull this off :) Can't wait for players to visit the first space station I'm designing!

Nice one dude! You got a ton of haters but you just gotta ignore them. Bunch of entitled wankers.

Do you work with Luke Adwick by the way? He's an old friend of mine from Frontier and he's just started last month. Say hello to him from me! :D

Ha! Yes, he is sitting right across the hallway from me Will do!

To be fair, a healthy amount of scepticism is justified on a game that is so ambitious as SC but some folks take it too far, I agree.

Absolutely man, you gotta have skepticism with everything. But sometimes you gotta just enjoy the hype and hope that the potential gets fulfilled. Can't a man DREAM?!

Best of luck on the project dude!

Really loved that demo when I saw it. The world looks great and is pretty detailed considering it's scale! The part where he flew down to the planet and passed all of the ships only to look back up and see the huge space station floating out in space in real time was awesome. Can't wait to fly about with some friends in this!

I really hope they can pull it off. Best of luck, @FrieChamp!

Very impressed by the gameplay demo, artistically impressive and majestic in size.

It seemed boring though, guess these games are just too big for me to actually play them; AI seemed non-existent :/

This is a pre-alpha build showing off new features and is not representative of the final gameplay. There is still a lot of work to be done especially on AI.

EDIT: Here is an honest behind-the-scenes video of the days leading up to Citizencon including info on why the Squadron 42 demo was postponed last-minute:

it's extremely impressive as is but i really cannot see how they can populate a single planet, let alone multiple.

Thanks @FrieChamp, will take a look when back home tonight or on the train back. A friend linked me another(?) video as well where is possible to view bits of the editor.

OT: the bigger text in my message is non-intentional, I cut-paste on mobile and for some reason got bigger.
