Really cool game indeed! Congrats !

I've just this question about the map 'height' ... Why these changes on the settings? It was So unique with the dawn and the snow... :(

Anyway the game itself plays very well ;)

Guess they're "insurgents" and not "terrorists"

Well its still source right? But other than that it looks like a damn professional game, good animations, good characters, one of the nicest UI designs I have seen.

I thought they made it on the cryengine?

It's probably the best use of Source I've seen, sometimes doesn't even look like Source!

That was Lethal Enterprise, a prototype we worked on before. Insurgency runs on the same version of Source Engine as CS:GO.

Thx. Nice to hear that opinion.

    edit:

Total Biscuit released his WTF is video for Insurgency today. He gives a good overview about the game for anyone who hasn't seen or played it yet.

Yeah the level design is really stellar and probably better than the stock CS:GO stuff

I'm seriously addicted to this game right now. The gun combat feels so great and satisfying. Do you guys have plans for more maps?

Yes we plan to regularely update with new maps, weapons, features etc. Game continues to get developed.

Good video by Biscuit. I do wish he'd stop banging on about "texture quality" though. Watching the video I didn't see anything low res about the maps textures. They all looked high quality and well integrated to me?

Yea textures arn't lowres by source standards. I think what he's missing are detail normals but source doesn't have that. The general flatness of source materials doesn't help either.

Well, I can say that I like Source for not being overly cluttered with overly detailed and noisy textures. Gameplay is what matters and in Insurgency it's really solid (+ the game looks amazing)! Are there any tutorials/guides for Insurgency's level design?

I just bought the game yesterday and ... I was also addicted oO

It's been years since i haven't found a great multiplayer game (that i really like i mean), so i think i love it for now.
Good job guys, on the first time i started with the training i was like "whoaaa" cause the beginning point of view is really beautiful

But maybe you should fix it (the training), the grenade throwing was corrupted : the only way to pass the objective was to throw a C4 because it has a big explosion range i guess. And after that, i had to put my weapon on bipod on the fence, i did (with the submachine gun) but nothing happened :/

Sry for my bad english. Good job

People are making custom maps already. Think you only need the source sdk and the insurgency fgd. But i'll ask one of our level designers to answer you guys. You might also find some info here: http://www.playinsurgency.com/forums/forum/15-level-creation/

Btw you guys need to work on the natural rocky level. There is zero readability between what is a cliff and what is a path you can take.

Yea good point. I will forward it. Wasn't happy with it myself when i did the texture pass on it. Didn't have the time to redo the displacements in a way that makes it easier to texture the paths more distinctively. Right now it's all just big displacemnt squares so ther's a lot of overlap texture wise between what's path and the rest of the terrain.

Yeah I think there needs to be less 1 large blended displacement that gently slopes, to more <25 degree slopes that you can navigate (earthy texture, grasses) and >65 degree slopes that you clearly can't navigate (bushes, rocks, rocky texture).

Yeah I like that map, it's nice and open, but I think it could do with a good pass. Feels like there isn't much gameplay really, it's just so open. A few more distinct paths might be nice, but nothing too limiting. It definitely feels like one giant displacement rather than a natural open level.
