I don't really consider all those part of the core series though, certainly not 1943 and BC1 which didn't come out on PC. For us PC types there was a pretty long gap between 2006's BF2142 and 2010's BC2, and many people didn't even consider BF2142 a proper sequel as it came out a year after BF2.

I didn't like the feel of BC2 on the PC though, it had some lingering console-itis IMO. BF3 is the real sequel to BF2 both in spirit (not too much silly destruction) and variety of play.

We can only conclude that all BF-games since BF2 are consolised and rushed piles of shit that were brought to you by the greedy fucks at DICE.

    Silence, greedy fuck!

In all seriousness I don't really care about the release timing or the game's setting (as long as it's not the My Little Pony universe). At the end of they day it's either interesting or it isn't. Loooooved 1942. Loved BF:V. Loved BF2. Loved 2142. Loved BC2. Loved BF3. I'm hoping BF4 will continue that trend...

Yeah I thought about something like that but then it's Modern Warfare again... The Korean War happened before Vietnam shortly after WWII so it would be better suited.

I'm not really a big fan of the idea of an other futuristic BF game. It would be cool to have one that's set in the near future, like 10-20 years from now....

I actually think it would be cool if they went all medieval ages with swords, axes, shields, archers, catapults and trebuchets, With all the destruction going on and stuff it would be awesome. Ofcourse they could spice it up a bit with a wizards-expansion just to complete the clichés in video gaming, but even so I think it would be awesome.

That'd still more or less be BF2142-style though, right? If you take away the mechs BF2142 takes a fairly modest approach to the whole futuristic thing, with most of the guns/technology being the kind of stuff we could very well see within 20 years. That's kind of why BF2142 worked so well IMO, because there were no silly lasers or OTT gadgets.

That would be amazing. Please do this @ EA DICE!

I don't want Battlefield to continue being an annual product, it will become tainted and redundant.

Its especially irritating because they went and made all this 'uber battlefield member' crap already. So now if I want I can be a member and get all this exclusive stuff. Although, even if I did, in a year they're going to make a new game anyways. So whats the point... here I thought they were trying to give BF3 more longevity, but I guess they just want more money.

I'm just not sure that they can do anything particularly special with a new Battlefield game next year; its not going to be on the next gen consoles, and the basic Battlefield game formula is pretty much always the same. They have added some fun game modes in recent games, but... surely they won't make something worth another $60.00 in that time? Its going to take some serious convincing to get me interested in another Battlefield.

Although... mechs just might get me... hehe. Samurai mechs that is, I'm talking Escaflowne feudal age japan or something. The classes could be: Battle Field Ninja/ Shinobi (recon), Samurai (assault), Yari Ashigaru / Spear Man (support), and Engineer (engineer). I figure every class can carry ranged weaponry of some sort, and 'vehicles' would be horses, light horse drawn wagons (could have mounted weapons), and Escaflowne style mechs ftw (these mechs could have flying and ground versions that function much like tanks and jets). :derp: by Escaflowne style I mean mechs that use essentially medieval weaponry: swords, axes, claw hands, some of them use extending metal blades for cool ranged attacks )

I dunno, if Marvin's idea looked like the first action scene in Sucker Punch I think that could be pretty sweet. Although I think we're getting away from the concept of Battlefield here...

To help get back on track:

If you really want access to the beta you will have to:

I guess people already knew that but its some of the only on topic info that exists at this time

Yeah Marvin summed it up pretty well. Just another money grab to reiterate the same codebase a year later, making sure they squeeze as many sales out of the current gen of consoles. Personally I think BF3 has awesome multiplayer, but the online pass system is another brazen $$ grab. It may be cool, but I don't have high expectations.....

If they released an SDK, however, that would be an entirely different matter.
