I like the detailed eye color. Not often you see blended eye colors represented, even though they're super common. It's a nice attention to detail.

Speaking of attention to detail, his clothing looks the right kinda boring beige for a contemporary army uniform, but his collar is enormous and totally distinct. The German uniform had a big collar, kinda, except it's pressed flat to the shoulders in all the pictures I can find, and they're more green (but that could just be the lighting/cc/etc). That collar in the teaser is popped af.

He's also very well shaven for someone who's possibly been in a trench for weeks

Edit: My gut reaction to the overall clip is to be reminded of Wolfenstein. Battlefront: Wolfenstein would be awesome, somebody should make that game

Ok, that's a pretty cool trailer. I've never seen WW1 done properly and by god, I'm so done with modern warfare that this already feels like a breath of fresh air. Like a summer breeze cooling your tired face. Plus, close combat sticking those pesky campers with your bayonet. Yeah, I see potential.

Okay, that actually looks really cool. First time I've been hyped for a BF game in a very long time.

The scale and pace look really fast and huge for WW1 which was kind of a clunky awkward war, but I guess shitty tin-can tanks putsing around the battlefield ineptly didn't make for good trailer material.

WW1 was in all sense a world war. A war of innovation, creativity, brutality and not least variety. So I hope we will be able to show that it wasn't about camping in a trench for 4 years. Can't wait until we get to show more

Indeed. The London Imperial War Museum's Digital Memorial to World War 1 is staggering. I went to see it in January and it just blew me away. Some of the shit they have in there is incredible. They had everything from smallest pieces of shrapnel to the first tank on display. The first real sniper suits were super interesting.

Was very surprised to hear a weird chopped cover of Seven Nation Army instead of the Battlefield theme. It would've been okay if they'd left out the lyrics, but they didn't, so boo on that.

Anyway, looks like campaign footage. Wonder if the airship'll be an enemy ship to storm like in BF2/Naval Assault, or just a campaign location/macguffin? I imagine they're not imminently flammable hydrogen balloons in this alt-history. :D

It's weird how good DICE are with faces. There's not a lot in the trailer, but what's there looks extremely human in their animation. BF4 had that, too. It's not at all something I'd expect a shooter game, or a multiplayer focused game, to put effort into, but it's really paid off. DICE even does faces better than DA:I using the same engine, and that game has a lot more need for good face animation. BF4's faces avoid the uncanny valley "You're actually a rubber man" feeling most games and even movies have with their CGI people, even in scenes where people get up close to the camera. It's a pretty incredible achievement.

Plus, thanks to BF3/4's modern setting they had to support diverse skin shades, which let black people start existing in Thedas. Hopefully they continue with that with BF1. Maybe the alt-history can be used to integrate the US army four decades early.

Where did you read that it's set in an alternate history? I'm still not really sure if it is or not tbh, so wondering what your source is.

Anyway, first Battlefield in years that gets me interested :)
