Exactly the same liam, have yet to play it. Doubt I ever will. For me it's gone a very similar direction to CoD, after the piece of shit that was MW2 I haven't touched them.
Battlefield 4

Game's been playable on PC since 2 weeks after release. Worst thing still occurring is apparently PS4 rubber banding on high player count servers. That shit sucks but the PC side has been fine for awhile if a crash here or there doesn't make you furious and storm off to twitter to tell the world precisely how mad you are in a post that clearly shows what a calm, collected individual you are and someone we'd all want to hang out with sometime.

well, tbh a lot of the critique was fair. people buy a product and it's unplayable. in my books that's unacceptable. you don't like a game? fine. you release a shitty product and sell it for the full price, people will start complaining. it's sore for the developers and I feel for them, but it doesn't change the fact people got fooled into spending their money and investing their time on an unplayable game..
in all fairness though, i must admit i've had a fun time last night playing bf4 without much issue. it's a first for me and at least last i felt i was getting value for my time/efforts/money.

Yeah, I mean, the game was a fucking mess. Just not quite the mess that's been reported.
Expecting measured reactions from the internet is pretty fucking stupid of me though, I'll admit.

Yes, a lot of people jumped on the hate train so not everything is as bad as some people claim. Having said that, the game wasn't working properly after 2 weeks. Me and my friends tried for over a month before selling our origin account or getting refunds. I have one stubborn friend and it started working for him about a month ago. That's 3 months after release.
In short, the brand has most difinitively been damaged.

Hate was deserved - buggy broken mess and shadow of its former self. Bf2 was a masterpiece and it just went downhill after bad company 2. Yeah come at me telling me im so wrong and too cynical and a hater to boot

bf2 was a mess at launch as well...

She cheated you before and she will do so again. Walk away bro, just walk away from this and stop tormenting yourself. This game is done for.

Great trailer and PC issues! DICE's hallmark at this point.

I'll be honest, this game is running really well for me on PS4, maybe I missed the party in terms of the issues with it, but it's brilliant. The only real bug is a lack of sound for the first ~10 seconds of a match, which isn't ideal but not a game breaker. Apart from that I'm really enjoying it, though there is some sloppy design in places, it's clear it was slightly rushed. The first Rush point on Paracel Storm is a snaggy mess, it's quite easy to get stuck on destroyed building pieces or fail to climb certain objects until after trying about 5 times and getting shot in the process, and I've seen big seams in the terrain that could have easily been rectified, but it's all good generally. Would be nice to see more of a progression between this and BF5 than there was between it and BF3, but I enjoyed BF3 so I don't mind so much.

How is it control-wise? I've always found Battlefield a pretty challenging game to be good at even on PC, with the luxury of a keyboard and mouse. Is its PS4 incarnation a classic 'look around with the stick' style, or have any of the PS4's features such as the camera or touch pad been used to make it easier to play effectively? Just wondering how big an obstacle the controls are with what is historically a tough game to enjoy until you're really good.
-
controls are pretty much the same as every other console shooter in the last generation, I think the touch pad is used to bring up battlelog but I can't remember. Dunno if any other games have used it for anything fancy yet? Hopefully it won't end up as something gimmicky.
-
glad you're playing it just fine PaulH
i've just fired it up again and read on battlelog that dice is adressing rubberbanding issues. of all the bugs ive had encountered with bf4, rubberbanding was not one of them (not often anyway). but now i can't join any server without unplayable rubberbanding and a dramatic fps decrease from 35-40 to 15-20 (and im already playing on lowest settings lol). gj -
Let's just close this thread man.
