Playing with a controller on PC instead of using a keyboard, so that might add to the problem, since you never feel like you have a good grip on your surroundings with a controller

Yeap, it's a bit annoying but it also feels very deliberate, I feel it's made to create that feeling of uneasiness and unnaturalness of crouching.

Last night I finished mission 28.

    Mission 28 (Code talker)

Holy shit that was fucking amazefuckingballs. My soldiers are back on the motherbase dying from this annoying fucking decease, I keep sending more of them to quarantine but they keep dying left and right, I need to find this Code Talker guy, and make him give us a cure, fast! I'm 60 hours into the game, I don't want a freaking virus to make all that work go to waste.

I went in with Quiet, then mist settles in, and I'm like, Oh shit... here comes those annoying skulls again, I'll just sneak around them like I've been doing in the game so far. But turns out it's a new kind of skulls, it's 4 sniper chicks. They can see you really well in the mist, so I think what the fuck I have a scoped tranq sniper and I got Quiet, I'm gonna try to bring these ugly bitches down.
Quiet goes down after we take the first skull down, I'm all alone in the middle of these creepy ass swamps with 3 supernatural snipers on my ass, my chin is in the dirt and I'm determined to bring them down, they killed my comrades after all. I manage to create a distraction by sending smoke grenades far away from me, they'd all skope on that area and I'd see the laser from their rifles and I took two of them down, although the last sniper is not falling from this trick, it seems like she learned and is not falling from the same mistakes the others did, so I bring this one down old school, mano a mano sniper fight reminiscent from The End in MGS3 until I bring her down.

It feels awesome, it felt like revenge, but I still gotta find that old man. I keep moving towards the designated area where he's supposed to be, turns out it's this gigantic mansion / hacienda in the middle of fucking nowhere, I need to sneak inside and find the guy. Security is heavy and they know I'm coming because I took down the 4 skulls. By using pretty much most of my gadgets on me, I manage to sneak my way inside without no one even seeing me, even managed to fulton a few Elite guards.

I find the dude, great cutscene plays and seems like he's willing to help. But now I need to piggyback this guy back to the helicopter and it seems backup is here and security got way tighter now and so much time has gone by, it's now daytime! So I figure, what the fuck, you know what I'm shooting my way out of here rambo style, explosions everywhere, bullets flying, I got a fucking tank blocking the path I need to go, it's a sweet ride too so I drop the old man next to a big rock and sneak my way in next to it and fulton the tank like a motherfucking boss.

I barely managed to get to the helicopter alive, but we did it, safe and sound, let's finally bring a cure to our comrades!

No other game made me feel this badass before, this mission went on for 2 hours, and was absolutely glorious!

How many of the side missions do you do? I feel like im doing too many atm, so afraid of missing some sweet personel to my team or other goodies :P but dont want it to end like Skyrim where I did so many side quests that I eventually grew tired of the game and never finished the main story

Yeah, I did too many sideops so far, I sort of stopped doing them now and I'm focusing more on the story. Will do a couple of sideops only if I really need the GMP.

Hmm but side ops mix with main story at some point (at least that is my feeling about it).

Spoliers as fuck, but I need to touch this:

    Quote

When you fight quiet, you can kill her or just bring her back to your Mother base. IF you shot her she is gone from the game? Or she will pop up in the chopper with you any way? We all knew Quiet very well from trailers, i feel like she was spoiled too much in trailers, if the game wanted to give you this hard choice to save or kill'er. Kaz was so fucking freaking out about saving her. Well, she's hot

You can't kill her... even if you use lethal weapons, she'll just lay there in the floor, you need to get her back to MB.

I really enjoy this game, but got this is what I was afraid of, open world doesn't work as good as a linear MGS experience. It works maybe for a gameplay, but narrative and story immersive is broken - I mean i preferred linear MGS games. Don't get me wrong, I know why they went open world and it fits the whole Mother Base and PMC thing, but It's not that tight with the story.

I have to agree on that, listening to cassette tapes in a heli isn't really engaging, and as I feared, Big Boss rarely say anything :( Ol' Jack Bauer did his required lines and called it a day.

I would normally agree that story is a strong selling point for open world games but being as I've been put off previous MGS games by the slightly odd stories and the way they're told (through overlong cutscenes) I'm actually pleasantly surprised about how this one is handled. After slogging through the prologue the story takes a bit more of a back seat and just lets you get on with enjoying the gameplay. I like the bite-size way it's all handed, in terms of being able to jump on and pick a mission, complete it, return to your helicopter and upgrade some motherbase stuff - it's great that it's not making me sit through reams of exposition when I log on for a quick blast

You can kill Quiet during the cut scene after the battle. If you kill her, she is completely removed from the game and story line.

    What a glorious fucking game.

I'm getting better at attacking PFs now, i was constantly getting my ass kicked. It's so fucking intense when you're attacking and the player logs in to defend his base, or the flip of that, when you're out doing ops and you get a notification that your FOB is getting invaded.

It was fun but I'm tired of this Fallout/Skyrim trend of soaking up all your free time/requiring you to do a million things/walk a hundred miles before telling you a story. Like, I don't fucking care that much. Get to the point. Stop making me do tedious bullshit.
