Aye, one of my favorite games of the last couple of years, shits tight, love the new additions. Only problem is that it's unoptimized like hell, and having more than 5 civs on a decent sized map will just cripple the turns in the late game to the point of being unplayable.

Ahhh Civ. Loved it, but soon you'll notice the terrible AI problems and become quite mad. The curve to getting there is a joy though, enjoy while it lasts!

I've got a great MOD on my machine that makes the game incredibly more fun... I'll post a link once I get a chance to see what its called so you can give it a shot.

Game is fun for a while but extremely boring towards the last turns. The AI is completely broken and sometimes goes from 100% friendly to 100% aggressive in just one turn.

Even though they made some cool improvements here in there, I still think Civ 4 is a more rewarding game overall

    I agree with mino,

does anyone know if there's a mod to lock the age? Would be cool to just play fixed age without all the research and progression.

You guys should play crusader kings 2 it's even more boring, and you can assassinate your mother or marry your children with their consins or their grand parents

Civilization is always a game I've thought 'hmm maybe I'd like that' about, then never actually tried it. The only comparable games I can say I've really enjoyed are Black & White, The Sims, and and Theme Hospital. Will I like Civ V guys?????

It's just a big complex board game, that's super addictive

I would get it when it's on sale, I picked it up recently for 10- euros. Civ 4 I played to death so it was a safe purchase.

I know the hardcore guys who played civ4 to the death hates it, especially because of the reduced complexity and of the army system that won't let you stack units on a single case; but personally i prefer it much more like it is right now :], you have to build a waterproof front and use flanking techniques to win which is much more realistic; even if the scale is off.

I dunno. Singleplayer was a lot better in Civ4. Discovering new religions and building new landmarks was actually meaningful since they had special videos for that and shit. I also think it was easier to see the cities progression in Civ 4. Basically Civ 5 is a more streamlined and polished game but Civ 4 feels more special to me
