Played it and like it. Like the combine feeling for some reason.

    Quote

The battle after launching crab canisters in the base is very frustrating. I don't know if you wanted us to do that but i ran away and took the elevator without fighting because 2 hunters and 4 (?) pulse riffle is a really pain in the ass.

I forgot that I had played this whenever it was released previously and had a weird hour long feeling of deja vu =/

Visually, looks great. Good lighting, texture work, brush work, use of props, etc etc. Not a fan of combine architecture because, lets face it, you see one combine base you've seen em all... Other than that though...Design wise, solid. Never got lost, breadcrumbs in some areas were good (some areas could have used more though), no key crap to deal with...

    Two little nitpicks I have to get off my chest;

    Quote

The potential (or, more likely, inevitability) of having 3 rockets going into the first hunter fight makes it a bit of a yawn. Sure you *could* ignore your strongest weapons and use something else, but.. human nature n what not, that's not likely.

Was not a fan of the layout for the second hunter fight. Without spoiling anything, you basically choose between being in the middle, and having enemies coming at you from 3 or 4 lanes, thus making you more vulnerable, or staying on the outside and reducing that to 2 lanes, which results in a cluster eff if you get swarmed. I felt cheap after finishing that fight =(

I'd give it 4.5 out of 5 ninjas.

Just finished it, awesome stuff. Best HL2 SP mod I've played,

though the ending was perhaps a bit weak~

I thought the 2x hunter man hack fight by the bridge was awesome by the way~

    [Design Feedback]

    1) Pacing

I liked the pacing a lot, as also how you reused the environments in a way that makes sense in the storyline. You enter a building, encounter a small challenge, activate something and have to go back. Then, there are bigger challenges: some combines waiting for you, a Fast Zombie jumping in your face where there was just a dead body being eletrocuted and things like that. Great!

    2) Placement of the box of infinite rocket launcher ammo

I had to try a few times to

    Quote

    destroy the Combine Gunship

because I always ended up without sufficient ammo on my rocket launcher (I missed some shots ). When my ammo ran away, I had to walk around trying to find some more, but I couldn't in any way, got shot and died.

After trying some more times, I realized that I could walk on that

    Quote

    slightly broken bridge

    and

    Quote

    reach the garage

, where a pretty box of infinite rocket launcher ammo was waiting for me. That made my life easier.

I suggest two things that I believe could improve this experience:

    A) Make the path to the bridge a bit clearer to the player, because depending on the playstyle and skill, the finite amount of rocket launcher ammo can become a real problem in this gameplay area. If players miss a lot of shots and don't realize that they can expose themselves to the enemy shots to

    Quote

walk on the bridge and get more ammo in the garage

, they might die too many times and get frustrated.

    B) Simpler: Move down the box of ammo, placing it below the

    Quote

    slightly broken bridge

(which I believe would be better than to place it in the tunnel).

    3) (Apparently) Endless horde of insects

    After I got the

    Quote

    Gravity Gun

, I walked in a room with a computer pannel to open the gate, a health pickup on the wall and a loose grate.

When I pressed the button on the computer pannel,

    Quote

a horde of Antlions started to come down through the hole in the roof

. As the grate was between me and the enemies, I stood there in safe and shot each one

    Quote

    of Antlions

that came close. This offered me no challenge - at least until I keep shooting them and my ammo start to run away.

    After killing more than 40

    Quote

    Antlions

(I actually counted), I noticed one thing: the game would keep spawning more

    Quote

    Antlions

    until

    Quote

I use the Gravity Gun to push the grate away

    . Was that a bug?

    4) Puzzle

I loved that puzzle where we have to activate/ deactivate a computer to

    Quote

make both "human/ combine containers (?)"

    (I don't know how that's called)

    Quote

stop right on the right spot to create a hole in the force field

and enable the player to go through.

There seems to be an issue regarding the ocean, the fog and the skybox:

This is a really top quality MOD which I'd recommend to everyone. It was fun, funny and entertaining. Good job Rick and Magnar!

The thought of playing this gave me a bit of stomach ache. I played 1+2 before. And I'm so full of the hl2-gameplay + universe by now that the thought of it was like eating 2 plates full of pasta and forcing down another one. Maybe this explains why the mod doesn't seem to get the buzz it deserves.

Anyways, first scene is so pretty. Well made. The visual bar is very much raised here and maintained throughout the mod. But the nice intro was stained by very aggressive and out of place water-sounds. Like SPLOSSHOSSSHOSOHh. Doesn't make much sense for a small boat moving in calm water. Nitpicking you say. I say not.

I really liked the transition level. The egg-things and change of atmosphere just had my looking around while thinking for a while. Nice change of pace. And when things picked up, it was well done and it felt as if I just made it out of there alive.

The rest up to part 3 is probably the mods weakest point. Though I did enjoy mr wheelchair. A much needed addition among the all to familiar rebel-characters.

Part 3 is excellent. Love the way you guys added your own touch to combine architecture. The plant life is especially cool without ever looking out of place. Pacing is excellent. It's alot of action in a compressed format but it works really well. The change of envoirenemt in the end is introduced just at the right time.

All in all I enjoyed the remade 1+2+3 format immensly more than the vanilla 1+2. They all go well together and the variation is great. I almost forgot I was playing a hl2-mod at times which is my way of saying that I enjoyed this.

Thanks for all the feedback and comments! Although I don't answer on them all, I do read it all of course! Now that I'm not working on MIMP at home after work, I just sit and trawl the internet for comments instead

Today MIMP was shown on RPS! Woohey! (Thank you Campaignjunkie for tipsing them )

It's been on a few other sites as well, its great to see it getting some exposure!

You're welcome! I was reading the interview with PlanetPhillip (the transcription is pretty silly) and the part where you're like "yeah I wish we got more attention" and I was like "huh I thought everyone posted about them" but it turns out they missed it. Good luck / congrats

Promoting the mod has been quite hard work, lots of emailing around to various sites, but not an extreme amount of response, so the RPS posting definetly helped a lot!

And yeah, the auto-transcribe thingy used for that interview is not quite ready for primetime yet, haha. Or I just slur my words alot.

Played through it today, was saving for a good time. Really enjoyed alot. As with whoopservatory I really like the 'moments' and things you make, such as the

    Quote

    pigeon.

There are many fun and unique setpieces and the art is fantastic, beautiful. I really liked the

    Quote

    moss covered caves

    a lot.

    Quote

When I first played parts 1+2 I found the gunship and first hunter fight to be quite hard, but this time I beat it easily and walked away with full rockets which made the first hunter battle quite easy.

Overall it was very easy, but then again I've played alot of HL2 mods so maybe that's why. There are alot of situations where good ammo management early on makes things easy later.

The second hunter battle was frustrating, but I actually thought it was the most enjoyable combat scenario in the whole thing, up until the fourth or fifth death. That part had a lot of potential for a fun fight but felt like the least polished part of the entire thing. I took a ton of notes on that battle, the problems and how it could be better but fear posting them for looking like an ass by going on and on.

If there is one thing wrong with this mod it is the collision. Playerclip is your friend. Smooth stuff out.

I have no idea why the player went into

    Quote

the combine base. I think the wheelchair guy said we were supposed to do something but the robovoice is hard to understand. I have no idea if there was an objective nor if the player accomplishes it...it doesn't feel like anything was accomplished.

I took a few screenshots of my favorite parts while I was playing: http://imgur.com/a/v6CdG

This mod is really nice and looks brilliant. One of my all time favourites. Loved the wheelchair guy as well, and the ending

    Quote

    was very funny.

Only had two things that bothered me a little and that was the backtracking prevention done in the mid section before map 2.

I tried to get the battery but got pushed away by the gas and I have seen it happen to others too so just moving the battery to the other side might fix that.

And this might be just me but the first map was a lot more difficult then the other maps and the fight at

    Quote

    the station

    was almost too easy now.

But yeah that might be just me. Overall loved the mod, has great quality and I hope you guys will continue to do mods together. Cheers!
