are you saying there's no way of doing that while still being able to like what you're making?

For you, there's no way, for the rest of us, hell yes

I was hoping for a zombie mod to be created for GTA IV back when it was released on the PC but R* loves the modding community so it was never possible. This mod is basiclly what I hoped l4d would be more like but with ARMA's completely broken gameplay mechanics it seems more annoying than fun to play (unless you have really good buddies to play with)

    Could be wrong.

i'm just kind of tired of zombies. they were cool back in the day but it just seems like such an overused concept now. i'd rather see something new and interesting. or even better, a game that is only about survival without any form of antagonist(s)? hella more interesting than zombies.

Are you for real? All enemy archetypes are overused. It's the fiction behind them and the traits of them that differ in games. Here is the list of every enemy in every game. No one has thrown out anything new in decades.

    Humans

    Monsters (zombies are here)

    Aliens

    Robots

    Animals

    Mutants

    There you go.

That kind of proves his point tough. By your example zombies are a type of monster, so why do zombies have to be used so many times? Why not werewolves or gargoyles? I haven't seen many games with vampires for example (not the sparkling kind ). A well made vampire hunter game would be great. You've Van Helsing (fps with vampires and crossbows!), Buffy (something similar to Tomb Rider but with vampires), Blade (Batman: Arkham City with vampires), the Winchester Brothers (Co-Op western with vampires), etc, they would all make kick ass games. The folklore behind vampires and vampire hunters is much richer than must of the themes used in games so the possibilities are endless.

I was going to post about this in the stalker 2 thread, hitting on the idea of what I thought their mmo would hopefully turn out like (in a general sense.)

I've known about this mod for a week or so but only got around to playing it for a few minutes last night. The server was in it's night to dawn cycle and having no friends to play with (I'm a loser irl and online), I was afraid to go into any buildings to find loot or really do anything for that matter.

They play on subtle music and ambient noise pretty well for added atmosphere, though I wonder if taking at least the ambient music out would add to the experience. I'll have to play more but it seems like if you're playing on your own, it might be a more immersive experience. Playing with your buddies, you can make it into a big joke if you wanted.

I just played it for about 3 hours, teamed up with some randomer named 'Stevii' who spoke hardly any English but knew the game fairly well. He had a map too which was helpful.

We spent an hour or so searching random small shacks and villages for ammo/better weapons, then started progressing in from the coast. We came across loads of interesting buildings with hardly anything in, then we rounded a corner and came across a MASSIVE industrial complex teeming with zombies and cool stuff. Stevii told me to be careful, other players might be using this place as a bandit hideout.

We went in together, being as stealthy as possible and trying to avoid zombies. But they overran us, and I got killed Stevii escaped though. Good on ya Stevii, keep on fighting and maybe I'll see you again one day

    This game is fucking amazing.

tried it out for about an hour today! it's really, really cool although it's really, really rough around the edges haven't encountered anyone yet, I've just prowled around some villages, scavenged and killed some goats for food.

    ... this shit got potential!

Im hoping that when Arma III comes out they port this to it. Thats if arma III improves the latency issues arma II has.

Have you opened the ports for the game? The game kept kicking me out too before I did that.

probably didn't update to latest beta client patch for arma 2, or launched incorrect beta properties, and then you opened some ports and joined a different server that didn't run on the beta patch and it worked.
