tools only get you so far, so no...

if anything, i would think it would broaden the interest in custom content, which can be nothing but good for the people already slogging away.

Does anyone else feel sort of resentful towards the Perpetual Testing initiative? I feel sort of like it's undermining the efforts of "real" mappers and modders.

    Original Gangsta Mapper. :cop:

    Also; no.

I've heard one other person say this, and he's well known for incredibly self-righteous opinions.

So no, because "real" designers use whatever tools they need to achieve a professional end.

No, I would think that this would be a great tool for those who want to be creative and design games but have been unable learn software or not have access to it. I work as a video editor and people are always comparing software saying that you should use this if you want to make professional videos, when it really has to do with who is using it. Also this "portal map editor" can only get you so far.

You can add that doing some complicated puzzle on portal with all those script and in/output in hammer is very difficult and boring.

I think this will be great for blocking out a Portal 2 puzzle -- you do a "puzzle editor" graybox pass, then a "hammer" art pass.

How? I haven't downloaded the update yet- does the portal 2 editor work?

Hammer closes down on startup. The in-game editor is probably fine.

Oh yeah, when you publish a chamber, you are able to set it to "Everyone", "Friends Only" or "Hidden" before publishing. And using Friends Only has the tooltip "This item will only be visible in searches to you, your friends, and admins. However, anyone with a link may view it."

I just created my first one, though I haven't decided if this will be one of my three submissions.

If I make the map public and continue iterating on it, will it still be eligible for the Challenge?

And should I use a special MapCore prefix/ sulfix in the chamber's name?

Balahir, my first headache puzzle. Yeah it's kinda hard to see what it is from all angles in the editor because of all the cavities (for stylepoints).
