Tablets

    I'm assuming many of you here have them, I picked up a HP Touchpad last year during the fire sale, mostly because it was cheap. I've come to love it and it was a great purchase, though I'm not sure what the right price point for one would be for me (definitely $100 )

    My laptop is a 17 incher, and is permanently in a cocoon connected to an HDTV, wireless mouse/in, speakers, ipod cable, power cord, laptop cooler etc. Basically I should have bought a PC, though I feel like even if I had a more mobile, lightweight laptop with great battery, I wouldn't bring it around with me much, neither the living room nor to work. The tablet is fantastic for this. I can bring it anywhere with one hand, or slip it right into my backpack. Plus the charging cord doesn't have a brick. I bring the thing everywhere and the battery lasts many hours.

    In my current state, I barely play games and 95% of my computer usage is web browsing, that's what this thing does best so I use it a ton. I don't really have a complaint about a lack of apps (especially true with HP, though supposedly not so much for the iPad, but also poor for Android tablets). The only limitations for me are that its WiFi only, but I have WiFi at home and work. I don't think I could ever justify another 3G contract in addition to my phone; I wish tethering were free, but I feel like that'll never happen with at&t and the iPhone. I've got 16 gig of music on here which I think I mah take off because it seems to slow the thing down, and I use it with Pandora a lot. Lastly, the keyboard is not entirely easy to use. I can type very well on my iPhone, but not super on this tablet (Making this post a bitch). I've used an iPad keyboard before and its better but never as good as a real one. I'd consider a Bluetooth keyboard if I typed more, but like I said I mainly surf the web.

    I'm sure wed all love an iPad, but I can say that their price is above my price point. Plus having a tablet that can use flash makes it a huge negative that the iPad doesn't. While its a little slow and finicky, I can watch any movie on YouTube, without it bring converted for iOS use (I find many aren't playable on the iPhone), and in HD.

    Anyway, I'm real frustrated by now typing all this. Just wondering what everyone else has and what their thoughts are. Real excited to see hoe these things are improved in the future and what they'll cost.

    i got an ipad as a present a while back ... the first 3 weeks or so it was laying around in its wrapping ... i had no use for it ... now i use it all the time D: i am so addicted to that things its crazy i already contemplated selling my pcs and only using the ipad from now on ...

    iPad here as well. You're not gonna miss Flash... Well depends what kind of sites you're visiting in but I haven't had any problems with missing flash so far. Every big video site out there supports mp4 formats on their streaming services...

    Bought Apple TV with the iPad as well, goodbye HTPC. Now I can stream music, movies, photos etc. straight from my iOS devices and HD films straight from my desktop computer wirelessly.

    i'm actually curious as to why wacom haven't gone into the booming tablet market. hands down they have the best tablets out there, why not make them general purpose?

    I got the new iPad a few weeks back, never had one until now, and I absolutely love it. Though I'm certain that I'll always want a proper computer at home, then I can slowly see how the iPad is devouring the time I used to spend on my Macbook Pro. The lack of flash might seem really annoying on the surface, but in my experience then it's surprisingly rare that you get to a site where you can't use it.

    It's funny, at first I figured I'd just use it for the web and games, but I've started drawing a lot on it, using it to sketch out layouts and illustrate areas of maps quickly. I still totally get the argument that a lot of anti tablet people are throwing around with it not being a creative platform; It definitely won't be able to emulate what you can do on a proper computer, but there's definitely also areas where it's way superior.

    Anyway, really happy that I finally got one.

    Got ipad too. Just for not getting out of my bed ...

    It is alright. Had some browser problems a couple of times where it just crashed.

    I only had one time that I can remember that I needed flash. So I do not really miss it.

    I used it mostly for skype, web, mail and movies.

    I bought this app that would extend my pc its screen with my ipad. Cost me 7 pounds, but did never work

    I have a ipad2. I have mixed feelings about it, there's extremly good things about it, and there's others that make me look at it as no more than a expensive toy, especially since I already own an iphone with 3g internet on it.

    It is super useful when you travel, or long commuting rides. It's just the right size, you can take it everywhere, whereas with a laptop is not always the case. (I wouldnt take a big laptop on a week vacation somewhere, a ipad tho, I would, It's small and easy to use and the battery lasts 4 times as long)

    Another reason why I bought it, is because I don't own a laptop, I do all the work on my PC and I spend enough hours in front of it, so I don't need yet another portable computer behind me, although the ipad is (again) light and quick to check mail and do other shit.

    I have some 'Paracetamol' and 'Aspirin' tablets. They're amazing, when I used mine it made my headache go away, that's just how crazy the technology is. Also seemed to ease back pain as well, which a lot of people apparently get when they use computers.

    Plus they're super compact, and you can take them any where. Had some trouble installing apps though, the screen is barely even visible. I don't even know what I'm doing most of the time, and people look at me funny on the train.
