I actually found 2 bottles at a big supermarket once
If there's no cachaca to be found you can replace it with Vodka (caipiroska or caipivodka depending on the place).
One thing I don't miss about Brazil is the beer though. Brazilian beer is usually shit and all major brands taste the same. Pretty crazy considering how important it is in our culture.
Thiago, you just made me homesick for the home I've never had....I love a good Caipirinha...Damn I love Brazil probably even more.
Alcohol wise, my fav has always been [Blocked Image: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-w19cgUHFVBs/TuZBJQAjBKI/AAAAAAAAB6w/zcOs46_0tfQ/s1600/baileys.jpg]
But I can never say no to a good pommeau, cognac, armagnac, pineau or muscat (the first three are made the same way, only the fruit changes)
Beer? Anything amber and dark, no stouts. Whites are good too in the summer when you're looking for refreshment. Blondes are generally tasteless to me (not considering the random run of the mill piss that passes for beer in a lot of supermarkets)
Oh yes, and [Blocked Image: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/1/16/Amaretto_disaronno.jpg/250px-Amaretto_disaronno.jpg] and [Blocked Image: http://www.wjdeutsch.com/images/TRADE%20MATERIALS/BOTTLE%20SHOTS/VM%20high%20res%20bottle%20shots/VM_Limoncello_NV_750ml_BTL.jpg] never disappoint
i used to be able to make some pretty bitchin caipirinhas, but it's been a while. but yeah one of my favorite drinks!
also for the guiness, if you can get a hold of some mead/honey wine and pilsner, you can do guiness half and half with mead (pour 2 parts mead into a pint glass, fill half with guiness, half with pilsner). it's really good. or, failing that, irish carbombs.
in general i got a few drinks recipes i picked up while bartending, if anyone is interested

Just do it yourself:
1) Remove the white line inside the limes (makes it taste bitter)
2) NEVER mash the "inside" part of the lime as that makes it taste even more bitter. The stupid girl on that video does that ![]()
3) Never drink all the caipirinha at once. Always add more cachaca/vodka before running out of lime/alcohol. You can keep it going with the same limes for a few rounds if you keep adding constantly ![]()
my personal favorite drink:
glass with vodka

Our writer (interesting guy
) took us down drinking one night and he ordered something like that... though I forgot what shot it was but the drink ended up tasting like Doctor Pepper
Any idea? Must be something cherry and creamy...
EDIT: After some googling: Amaretto. I suppose it was Disaronno ![]()
Yeah.. Disaronno and Coke is AMAZING! Love that stuff.
Like most 20-something Brits I tend to drink a lot of cider, mostly:

I used to really like this but I've not seen it around for a good few years now:

Don't really see any other worthwhile white/sweet beers in supermarkets. Might have to try one of the more refined and sophisticated alcohol shops. ![]()
I usually cant go on a night out drinking without finishing off with at least 1 irish whiskey, which hopefully includes some jameson, coffee, a buttload of brown sugar and some home made cream ontop.
you guys are bunch of pussies ![]()

You're a man after my own heart, Thrik ![]()
Sounds quite nice, Skjalg. ![]()
I will add that almost every time I go out in Nottingham I stop by a place I'm sure D3ads is familiar with, the Pit and Pendulum, for a cocktail.
I usually have 'De Kuyper Crème de Menthe Green and Crème de Cacao White, with cream and milk poured over ice', or 'Russian Standard Vodka and Malibu, with cool cranberry juice and finished with a squeeze of lime'. Fuckin' lovely. :derp:
That sounds kind of like a White Russian to me. Which is basically vodka and coffee liqueur, in ice with milk/cream. Which is so awesome ![]()

Nuff said!
Haha when I go out to Nottingham I always end up in The Pit, I'm surprised I haven't bumped into you yet ![]()
