so i'm using the default view and i've started noticing this bug where it displays the "new posts" icon, even though there is nothing new inside. the icon doesn't go away until i click mark all topics read.

Its not a bug, the "new posts" are just inside threads on a different page.

Any kind of pattern which might go along with it happening? For example, does it happen when you've recently visited the forum (ie: within the last half hour or so) or does that not seem to matter? And does it mark posts you have read as having been read?
Just trying to rule things out.

Yep, the same.
In my case it's happen when all the forum are read (I guess) then a new post comes out, I read it and the forum seems to not update itself after my reading.

Hrm, I can't really see anything that might be causing this after a cursory investigation. Unless some of your cookies have gotten mangled somehow — could you try deleting your MapCore cookies?
I'm moving the forum server entirely soon as the first phase of the various stuff planned, with any luck that will solve this issue.
