XCOM: Enemy Unknown

Just purchased it on GMG, that deal is awesome. Especially since I'm in Norway and have to pay €50 via Steam.
Preloading... Gaaaaah, I want to play now.

I've tried the demo, and just by the look of the UI the game seems to have been finished in blood and tears

I've stopped because i was stuck waiting for my turn looking at an alien moonwalking indefinitely

It's weird, was unlocked on Steam at work, but at home it isn't available yet. We run through a UK proxy, but that's still Europe.
Oh well, played it for a couple of hours, totally loving it. It might be a bit rough around the edges, but overall it's just a joy to see that it just emphasises what made the original a classic, and makes it much more exciting. Having your crew get more experienced and acquire unique sets of skills, have rookies do a suicide run and get out unscathed as heroes, have nerve wrecking standoffs with your core go-to guy sacrificing himself in order to save the rest of the squad. It's so amazing, I drew a large crowd when playing it today, and had people cheering like mad. So good.
I will say that it even a couple hours in, it still feels like a tutorial, which feels a bit annoying since most things are super intuitive anyway. I'll probably start a new game at home with the tutorial turned off, seems that people that's played the original don't really need it, or at least can figure out most of the changes by themselves. Also considering playing it in Iron man mode, still haven't loaded a save game yet anyway, though that will probably change at some point

Anyway, can't wait to play it some more tomorrow~~

I'm having a blast playing this, kicks ass hehe, I named all my main squad from mass effect characters

-
Been playing it non-stop since yesterday~~love it, can't remember the last time I had an entire Saturday just go by in the blink of eye. Gonna be so sweet to try and get through it in Iron Man on Classic difficulty~
-
BEST GAME EVAR.
Playing on Classic Ironman, shit is hard, son.
-
Sniper with Squadsight and Archangel Armor is too good. Just fly up high, and kill everything that dare to get in your squads line of sight.

+ Double Tap. So fucking good!

And just finished the game on Normal difficulty. Our hearts go out to the brave soul named John 'The Saviour' Travolta for saving planet Earth. He already showed having psi-powers in "Phenomenon" and being accustomed to aliens by being an alien himself in "Battlefield Earth", so naturally the responsibility fell on him.
Ok, now I should probably start a Classic Ironman run.

This game is fucking amazing.
-
FUCKKK i want it to bad, but at this point i aint got time to play it/buy it. those YT vids rocks !

Finished it yesterday as well, on Normal difficulty. Pretty much a perfect reboot of the original, only thing that annoyed me was the end game stuff felt a bit weak compared to the original.
QuoteAssaulting the main alien ship instead of travelling to their base on Mars felt slightly weak by comparison. Even though it took me around 25 hours, then it felt like the last 5 hours escalated a bit too quickly, and I honestly wouldn't have minded it being at least 10 hours longer. But again, played it on Normal, so that's not really a fair complaint, and I figure it's gonna take way longer on Classic. Also a really cool nod to the Gollop brothers, plus the achievement you get from building the facility.
Started playing Classic Ironman, failed the first mission the first time, which forces you to redo it
Love it though, every single thing you do, in a mission or in the base, is just amplified in intensity. Generally didn't load save games in the Normal playthrough, except in the too regular cases where I had switched to a pistol with a sniper for Overwatch, and then forgot to the switch to the sniper rifle when I had the chance, but being stuck with your choices just makes you consider your options a bit more before you execute something. Anyway, Ironman mode fucking rocks~Definitely my game of the year so far~

Played it for 10 hours this weekend, absolutely love it! I was gonna play it for half an hour or so last night before going to bed, ended up staying up until the middle of the night. Haven't experienced that with any games lately.

This game is the best ever.
I've never saved during a mission, and never reloaded. I think I should have been playing Ironman for bragging rights, but I'll probably replay it. I pretty much suck at having any friends in the council.
-
I've played on Normal Ironman from the start. I really think loading saved games completely ruins the fun of Xcom. I think I'm nearing the end now.
QuoteI'm fighting loads of difficult enemies in every mission now. Those big mechs are so hard to beat... I have given everyone Titan Armour, though I'm thinking of getting the Ghost Armour as soon as I get my next council report (1000 credits every month!)
Next stop, CLASSIC Ironman. Fuck!
-
Heavies with HEAT bullets rip and tear Sectopods a new one.
-
Beat the game on Classic without Ironman. Tried to max everything out, so that was about 40 hours of playtime. Got my ass handed to me once again trying to do Ironman Classic last night. Maybe I should go up to Impossible so that Classic feels forgiving.

-
Fuck it, first time in and i'm playing on the iron man !
this is intense shit !!
-
Playing Classic Ironman keeps reminding me of Spiers' speech from Band of Brothers:

Shit's so nerve wrecking that I started feeling really unwell while playing the other day, couldn't bear losing more of my main crew. It's amazing.
