Really liking what they're showing and saying so far. I like that they're not blindly copying the old games, but actually translating them into an easier to understand system that still provides the same feelings as the old games~

Yeah I read a preview on IGN and I have to say, I'm very impressed so far. Excited to play it!

I tried playing the original but it is rubbish on Windows 7. Doesn't work properly at all, and the UI is very outdated, making it a very hard game to enjoy.

Wow, I just stumbled across this today. I'm looking forward to Firaxis' game way more than 2K Marin's. I hope they can get the interface to go smoothly on a console controller.... But I'll still play this one on PC.

Sadly, the shooter will probably still do better because the original X-COM is too complex for your average herp-derp gamer.

Very true, I don't think it's gonna sell like hotcakes to the teenagers playing Black Ops. Conversely Civ 5 has sold over a million, so I think if they hit the right target market I could see the Firaxis version selling more...... That and I'm feeling cynical about adapting this IP to FPS.

Looks great, I'll keep this one on my radar. I'm not familiar with the original game, but it seems interesting that this game appears to be a fairly big project considering it is being translated from 2D to 3D. It sounds like they're making some excellent design choices too

As somebody who played the shit out of the original games, this looks fun but it's way too colorful and flashy for my taste. The cool thing about this franchise to me has always been how mysterious, spooky and, in a way, how plausible everything was. The game had a serious feel to it. This looks more like a colorful game in which you shoot aliens with laser weapons. It looks like a cool game and some of the design decisions they took look interesting. But as a hardcore fan of the original XCOM UFO Enemy Unknown I can't help but feel a bit disappointed.

Yeah it doesn't look as dark and a bit less sinister than the original. I hope they still capture the somewhat plausible story of the original, but I don't think they've let enough tricks out of the bag yet for me to make this decision yet. Hopefully they'll still have some of those 'Shit I can hear Chryssalid somewhere, but I don't have eyes on!' moments.

I loaded up the original game via Steam to get my fix in until this comes up. The original X-com and Terror From the Deep are my #1 and #2 favorite games of all time. October can't get here fast enough.

I haven't had a game boner over a demo in ages. Well done, XCOM. Hype levels are already at maximum, and still being fulfilled!
