I saw that thread, it's just ridiculous .. but another interesting one is this : http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=164481

These are high quality textures and better lightning your character only gets during cutscenes, but everywhere else it's using the low quality ones (which look blurred and flat). Currently there is a trick you can use to make your character use the high quality textures outside the cutscenes. If you look at promotional screenshots for the game, all the characters are using the high quality textures, but ingame they are not. People were complaining during the beta about low quality textures, so Bioware enabled them to shut people up and disabled them again on release. And they are calling the low quality textures it a feature.

It's so it runs better on the majority of the machines, probably.

MMO's have this philosophy that it must run on a Pentium1.

There's a .ini flag you can set up that overrides that.

wouldn't it be better to use that setting when you select high quality?

Eh...in game character textures aren't a big deal for me but yeah I get how some people get their panties in a bunch over it.

Meanwhile, i only hit lvl 10 on my bounty hunter a day ago but I have yet to group up with anyone for anything. So I would agree it's basically single player. Still, i'm not really complaining yet, though maybe cause I was gifted a copy with an extra 60 days of free play time. Once that expires, should I still be interested in playing, i'm not sure yet if i will pay to play.

yeah the only reason i played it was because we got that gift as well. luckily a few friends really wanted to play and had the game otherwise i wouldn't even have installed it.

i still have another 30 days or so and there is no way i will be renewing it. i stopped playing about 2 weeks ago once holidays were over. nothing really grabs me ya know.

age of conan just released a new dungeon and i am more tempted by that.

So the 1.1 patch results in auto crash to desktop after logging in...tried everything to fix it so it's off to tech support. Game was running great before.

Sigh... good job EA. [Blocked Image: https://migrationtest.mapcore.org/public/style_emoticons/default/mapcore_smilies/emot_shakehead.gif]

    Fixed it.

I run off a fairly new Macbook Pro using Bootcamp. Stop screaming because before the 1.1 patch it ran pretty well. After the 1.1 patch you know the deal.

The problem was running the game in a window on a secondary screen. Once I rebooted, unplugged the secondary screen it ran again.

So the launcher seems to have issue with dual screens...which I agree might be a driver issue and the screen problem is the symptom, not the problem itself.

By the time I started playing WoW in...2007?...I rarely had stability problems so this may just be early jitters for SWTOR which is to be expected I guess.

Lawl, their ability to survey and track down "bad behaviour" on their forums would have made Gestapo proud. Imagine if they would spend all that time and resources on making their community happy instead of nonsense shit like that
