Um...couldn't find a specific thread about this. If someone finds it then I guess we can discuss there instead of here.

Thoughts? Seems like it is having a very solid launch so far however the wait times are long. I have it installed but haven't fired it up yet due to too much on my plate (thanks EA/Bioware for the free copy!!!)

Looks like the Star Wars MMO: For Kids. I'd rather waste my time playing League of Legends and Dota 2

Been playing for the last 7 days and it is by far the most enjoyable mmo I have played. Bioware really knows what Starwars is all about, so much more than lucas arts.

If ur on the east coast and looking for a server. A few Ubi foke including myself have a guild on this server.

    Server - Kellers Void

    Characters name - Vardek

The game is a complete success and unlike other mmo's it plays more like a game than a grind to top level

Bah, subscription MMO's are a commitment, not a game.

I found myself being slightly interested in the game today... won't pick it up anytime soon since I still got BF3 coursing through my veins and have some other games I want to play. I'll wait and see if this is hit or shit basically Carry on with your thoughts!

Yeah he actually talked to you with real diaolgue (unlike wow) and you got to make your own choices also 9unlike wow) and you can complete your mission with a companion (unlike wow). Sure its still a traditonal mmo style gameplay but with Biowares level of great Story telling and some other new additions. At least they give meaning to each mission.

Skyrim does the exact same thing, go do this and go do that, eat some shit and crap some stat.

..Which is also why I lasted about 5 minutes in the world of Skyrim before my eyes started bleeding. I think wow has ruined what used to be my favorite genre. :/ (oh and, when you say companion do you mean a friend in a party because you can totally do quests with friends in wow).

First impression (only played like 15 mins last night):

Environments seem to my liking, I really hated the ones in Rift... Just open plains with random stuff placed on it (level designers or environmental artists? lol). This on the other hand seems to have taste

I apparently hate Star Wars music, orchestra, blahblah. At least on the main screen.

Character creation is very 2006... It sucks donkey balls. Wasn´t able to tweak my character to my liking... Feels like one of those from crappy FTP MMO´s...

Will do some actual play tonight

The Secret World just opened it;s beta, I had a play around and that game is so good I don't know if I should even claim my copy of TOR, is it worth it? What makes this MMO different? Do you have to like Star Wars to be interested in the world? Is the movement and combat any good, compared to other games, or is it press a button and wait?

If you ain't into Star Wars not sure how much you would get out if it to be honest? Combat is pretty fun I think, I guess it comes down to pressing a button and wait but, feels a lot more involved than WoW.

Yeah, you should like Starwars if you have any interest in playing this game. Its the only reason I played WOW before was because I enjoy the warcraft world and characters. Wow gameplay was rather boring overall. I find Starwars mmo gameplay much more fun/engaging. There is no auto attack so you are always engaged or you are doing nothing. You also fight multiple enemies at one time vs 1 mob at a time. These additons build upon other mmo's out there but still feel someone more fresh than nothing at all.

I've been playing SW:TOR since Friday, and even though combat isn't an autoattack snorefest, Bioware should look at abilities, cooldowns and mob health as a prio. It's pretty damn ridiculous to have very long cooldowns on emergency abilities (20 minutes?) and that some require a companion (alive) to activate them. You kinda want those abilities when your companion dies like the wet papertowel he is, as a shit-hit-the-fan button. The Fleet Pass cooldown is the craziest in the game, which teleports you to your factions capital fleet where you can find all trainers, crafts, etc ... 18 hour cooldown. Why oh why.

In terms of mob health, they have 4 different enemy categories: Weak, Standard, Elite, Champion. But you never or very rarely face weak enemies alone, they are always in at least groups of 3. If you face a Standard enemy, it's either alone or got 1-2 weak enemies with it. And for being a Standard enemy, they have considerably more health and damage. Now if you have heals or a healing companion, you can take on these guys with ease, even if they are more. Heck, you can solo elites quite easily. But if you have a companion that doesn't do this, you are going to find it much harder. I just wish Bioware kicks the health down on a notch on enemies that are challenging for classes without healing companions.

I play Imperial Agent Sniper, and it's suffering. They better patch the Cover mechanic breaking channels asap, it's pissing me off.

Yup, I hear you are playing one of the hardest classes to play solo in the game :/ BH, Sith Warrior, and Inquister don't really suffer from this at all. They need to balance your class to fit better with the others. As far as the fleet cooldown, I dont even have that, or dont know about it. You can always just fly/or warp to a flashpoint shuttle or use class trainers around towns near by on every planet. I dont see the problem there.

I agree about some of the abilities though. They should also count if ur in a group with players too. Some cooldowns are to slow, but some of mine have to be otherwise I would be way to OP.

It's because the tanking companion we got aint worth shit, and many other snipers raise this issue on the forums. I am currently level 32 and I have to resurrect her after pretty much every encounter. She needs much more damage reduction and/or a heal-on-hit mechanic.
