Haha, those shots are definitely a little questionable but I just can't imagine this game looking anything other than splendid once complete.

Lighting looks pretty bad indeed. The last pic looks like something out from Game bryo

You guys made me look back at that third shot, and I noticed the super weird looking forehead wrinkles Caveman Mainguy has going on, and I can't unsee them. It's really weird, like he's got green streaks across his forehead.

I don't see anything wrong with the lighting in the first two screenshots.

I don't get this compression on the screenshots, maybe it's the websites going crazy with JPG compression, nevertheless the game appears to have loads of personality.

I bet the father dies for emotion sake / ending and you play with the grown up chick on the sequel

And what's with the low res textures on the vehicles? It's cover objects, they need to be sharper since you get so close to them. The pixel density on the environment textures are fail.

In the shot of Caveman Dad stomping on Expressionless Baddie's head, the shelf on the right is in great detail, pointlessly. Their texturing is seriously odd in these screens. The ground in the last shot is imo worse than the vehicles.

All sounds like symptoms of being WIP to me, though why they'd showcase screenshots with such stuff so visible is beyond me. Naughty Dog has a history of releasing questionable promo media, though; I remember when they first showed that cutscene where Drake meets Marlowe in Uncharted 3 the lighting was horrendous as if the characters were made of wax, whereas in the final game it looked great — and this was a video they used as a major publicity piece.

Metal Gear Solid has been a bit like this too, openly using work that's blatantly unfinished in prominent promotional material. I guess they figure that getting some buzz going about the game is worth some forums of game artists like MapCore looking at it and being all ";/" over it.

Just occured to me this morning than I saw the magazines in the train station:

The old guy from Last of Us and Max Payne (3) look exactly the same

Sure, the textures look blurry, but I still think it looks pretty good. On the visual side then it does look like a dip down from the Uncharted games though.

Game Informer has a long coverage of it: http://www.gameinformer.com/p/lastofus.aspx

There are a couple of videos where the ND guys go through story, intended gameplay, audio, etc...

I like where they're trying to go, just hope they deliver but then again, if anyone can do it, it's probably them

Game looks good but the low-res textures on objects let the scenes down...
