Man I guess I'm slow, I'm 16 hours into the game and still 70% complete.
Game is fucking awesome, it's been a long time since I enjoyed a SP game this much

-
Just finished the Left Behind DLC in one sitting, starts pretty slow but pretty much just gets better and better (bit like the full game actually). You definitely need to have finished the full game first too, but I definitely recommend this to anyone that has finished and wants more TLoU. Considering how TLoU plays out, then this manages to not feel totally unnecessary and actually adds some interesting details to the character of Ellie. Also has some encounters that rival the best ones from the main game.
Anyway, really good stuff, pretty much couldn't put it down once I started it

-
Yeah first sitting and beating the game, a lil bit short but great stuff !
QuoteWhen you've entered the mall with Riley, first thing that came to my mind was how Ellie explained (in the original story) how she was bitten and about her friend she saw dying, and I was sure this is what we will go through

Yup, was just waiting for it. Figured It'd be fairly odd if it didn't address that there.
Yep, at the same time it was extremely predictable.
Tho I didn't expect
Quotethe young girl/girl love angle
when I downloaded it but once
Quotethey got in the mall
I started to sense
Quotethe strong sexual tension between Ellie and Riley.

QuoteAye I definitely got that as well, but for some reason I didn't think they'd actually go there, really cool that they did tho. Plus the day it was released was the same day that Ellen Page came out, that's something of a coincidence considering her history with TLoU

Still not played The Last of Us, so I'm definitely waiting for the remastered PS4 version. A really interesting article about what's gone into it here:
The last of it: Naughty Dog on bringing The Last Of Us to PS4
Includes some intriguing points about the nature of new-gen games and how hard it is to show how much better they are:
Quotellustrating the sheer amount of work that’s gone into remastering the game is a challenge nobody ever anticipated. A half-decade or more of publishers’ bullshots created in Photoshop or produced by monster PCs outputting a 4K image has made selling the visual quality of new generation games a difficult task, and the online spaces games are marketed in aren’t up to the task of showing off The Last Of Us Remastered.
“How do you show it on the Internet? Any next-gen game?” Druckmann asks. “We have the game running in 1080p at 60fps, and YouTube brings it down to 30fps and does a compression on it, and it’s hard to tell the difference. When you see it running on your big TV and you see all the hi-res assets running smoothly, it’s hard to go back to the previous version after that, but it’s hard to show all the work, the optimisation and the artistry that went into it. We’re still trying to figure out what the best way to do that is. We tried to put a non-compressed version of the trailer running at 60Hz for people to download, but it’s several hundred MBs. It’s a huge file. Maybe there’s something on PSN where we can make this stuff available, but it’s something we have to address.”
I'm sure all of us here know how big a deal 30 FPS vs 60 FPS is, and how much sharper things can look on a large TV with 1080p compared to sub-720p. But I bet your average gamer appreciates the difference far less and sees new-gen games as being the same as last-gen ones because every fucking screenshot was a bullshot taken at like 4000p.

I showed my dad the first gameplay trailer last night after his nightly marathon of Walking Dead. He called up walmart to see how much a ps4 was and if they had the game in stock. He'll have to settle for a ps3 to play it but still, I thought it was hilarious how sold he was after watching that trailer.

Some screenshots from the PS4 remastered versions are starting to come out. (Game is out later this month)
FYI, this will run at 1080p and 60fps. Afaik, all textures have been reexported to higher res, etc.

Noice! I guess this will be babbys first ps4 game then.
-
But those last shots are pre-rendered, at least I'm fairly certain they were on PS3. Still cool that they've tweaked and tuned those, and the other stuff does look better, it's the 1080p 60fps that seals the deal for me tho (plus there's nothing else coming out in July, lawl).
-
Looks like they made Joel more grey haired too. Weird.
