Terrible still image for the preview, but watch it anyway.

Wow that looks great. The tree is obviously less bushy and you can see how certain things have been culled but the overall scene looks superb. Interesting that Crytek's old mantra of having no artistic direction and instead striving for pure reality is no longer followed with regards to lighting, though.

Is that actually things being culled or just different placement? Looks like the console update has less noise and more composition, honestly. I still think the lighting is a huge upgrade.

Oh I enjoy the new lighting in many areas, it's definitely aesthetically pleasing. I was just saying that the lighting was more realistic before (although it looks exceedingly bland in that screenshot above compared to how I remember it, perhaps due to not being on 'Ultra') whereas in the re-release it's gone more towards the stylised end of things — much like Crysis 2. Clearly Crytek's approach has shifted a little.

Crysis on high dx10 didn't look that bland.

Oh yes it did. That's high, not very high, and even very high didn't look that amazing. It was the power of modding that really unleashed the game!

Remember this comparison from that config I did back in 2007?

I played it on high/very high and it looked way better than those two first ones. Must be the location.

So, HP, did they just adopt your config for the console version and call it a day? That really was the only way to play that game. Huge improvement.

There were brightness sliders in Crysis that made it look much better than those screenshots above, they look quite washed out. With that said I work in the middle of a forest which is pretty much exactly like those screenshots and when I look outside the reality is closer to the proper Crysis screenshots (especially if you increase the contrast a touch) than the modded/re-release screenshots. While the latter are aesthetically pleasing they aren't necessarily realistic, as real life doesn't produce that kind of intense contrast and bloom. To my eyes the original screenshots hit much closer to what I'd call convincing.

But hey I'm not saying any particular way is correct, just observing how Crysis clearly switched from 'beauty comes from perfect recreation of reality' to 'we prefer it like this'.

I think it's safe to say a superb job has been done of cramming Crysis's amazing visuals into the metaphorical box that is current-gen consoles. Anyone who disagrees can go shove their head up a giraffe's ass.

    Yup.

In fact, I think it looks better then the original. Sure, it's got a bit more stylized and dramatic look but... it just looks better.

Same here, i've seen some screen's that i was sure was taken from PC ver, and it was console screen, great work, i havn't played Crysis on PC, so i'm actually thinking about grabbing PUSS3 ver

question (might have been asked, but still) is consol ver are build on CE2 or rebuild on CE3 ?

Fairly sure I saw in some PR thing or other it's been shifted to CE3.

CE2 never ran on console, it was a PC only engine.

Far Cry 2 was made by ubisoft. It has NOTHING to do with crytek since Crytek sold the "Far Cry" name back in 2005.

But to answer your question, It's called Dunia engine.
