That's a hell of a lot of foliage missing, I didn't realise it was the same area to begin with

Infact, I think that shot may have been done in a dodgy build (sans ground vegetation) as you can clearly see in other shots there is plenty of foliage around the preceding area., but don't quote me on that.

well i have been working on all the capturing and yes, sometimes we had old/dodgy builds, so the final game even looks a few inches better than the trailer does can't say if in that specific area the vegetation got replaced in the final build but the game does look mighty fine overall and I couldn't tell the difference to a PC build in most parts, when the game was in full action.

I never thought Crytek would be able to pull this off. Not without removing all the interactivity with trees or collapsing a lot of trees together into larger objects. It's impossible to have a Crysis 1 like forest on consoles simply because they lack hardware instancing.

The video looks underwhelming but it's the best current-gen consoles can do really.

Hell yeah, that's what makes an awesome game. Interacting with trees!

I was talking about the technical side of things. I never played Crysis so I can't comment about the gameplay.

Why are people shitting on this? Is the elite pc crowd feeling their collective manhood being challenged by a four year old game becoming more accessible?

Yeah I don't understand the apparent hostility either. I always wished Crysis 1 had come out on consoles as many people who got it on the PC weren't able to run it decently (not even me with high-end hardware at the time) and so either didn't play it at all or left with the impression that it wasn't very fun cos it ran so crap. Having played it years later with better hardware I realise it's actually superb, but I very nearly didn't bother after so long.

Having a second chance at the market is just what the game deserves IMO and I hope it goes well for Crytek, resulting in more superb games in the future.

In other news I discovered my apartment is literally like 30 seconds away from Crytek UK yesterday. In fact I can see through the windows from my building — hi guys.

Well as some people in the thread thought they were completely different areas and the game primarily takes place in a jungle...I'd say it's a big deal that there's foliage missing, yes. I'm not saying it's their fault or anything, I think the screens are more of a commentary on just how limiting the consoles are these days. Especially when most games are made for consoles and ported to PC.

Dayuuuuuum, son. A game that couldn't even be ran on max settings by mortals when it came out looks better on a top of the line PC than a 6 year old £150 console?

Because porting old games is inherently less exciting than working on new stuff (RIP Timesplitters 4), so of course people are going to jab at it.

Can studios not handle multiple projects any more? What makes you think porting Crysis 1 is going to require the entire (not small) building, or if it does for a length of time that'd result in other projects being permanently backburned?

I'd rather Crytek UK handle it so the central Crytek team can work on, say, Crysis 3.

Lighting looks way better on the 360, imo. Way more range, outside looks more like outside. There's also clearly still foliage in the game.
