    I never even knew the scene in alien where the family discover the derelict ship wasn't in the theatrical release until about a month ago. I cannot imagine the film without it.

    Yeah, most of the best scenes in Aliens were cut in the theatrical release. Also there's not a lot of differences between the Alien Director's Cut and theatrical release (some scenes added and some removed).

    I've got Alien Anthology on BD and in that pacage you have all the shit that was cut out, sooo if it's more Alien thats fine with me !

    Though I must say I'm still excited as tits for it. Even if he messes it up I'd rather see Riddley try something in the BR universe and fail rather then see someone else do it. I just hope it won't involve the principal characters of the first movie much.

    I'm sorry but the theatrical version of Kingdom of Heaven is a load of poop. But the Directors Cut is one of my favorite movies eva. Same goes for bladerunner and alien. Gladiator was ok, I didn't see much value added in it, didn't see much taken. It just tinkered with the pacing a bit.

    gladiator doesnt have a directors cut... it has an extended version which ridley clearly states in his intro is not a directors cut. He said the best version of gladiator is the theatrical cut

    After seeing Prometheus I'm pretty confident the sequel to Blade Runner will have the same quality as the original

    It depends on what you're looking for I suppose. Blade Runner now is nothing special, all the things I saw in that movie were done better elsewhere. To me it doesn't matter that most of those were probably influenced by Blade Runner. Guess I should've seen it back in the day (saw it a couple of months ago)... I did, however, acknowledge that back in the day it must've been sensational.

    If you're looking for an inspirational successor, leaps ahead like the original was (back then). Then I don't think this sequel will be like that at all... It won't set any standards.

    So in essence it depends on what you're expecting... The kind of quality of what Blade Runner is now... or was.

    Does that make sense? So yeah, for me it doesn't really matter that much. I feel like this movie will deliver the same lackluster experience like Blade Runner (now) and Prometheus, definitely not expecting it to have the same impact as it did decades back.

    Wow. I'm just happy that I saw Blade Runner back when I was young, naive and full of wonder and amazement, which was still more than 10 years after it's release. Can't imagine what my taste in a lot of things would be like without having a deeply nostalgic relationship with Blade Runner. I kinda get what you're saying tho, people do get overly attached to things and sometimes get blinded easily from what they are by nostalgia, and honestly then Blade Runner isn't an especially great story, but rather an amazingly well realized vision of the future that has a nice simple theme and message.

    With that said tho, can't believe that you're not impressed by today even.

    Anyway, like I did with Prometheus I'll really try and keep an open mind, but I really hope he goes with a more minimalistic plot and story, and focuses primarily on creating a gorgeous movie. That's at least what I feel like after Prometheus.

    There's some interesting things, for sure... but I found the execution to be so very flawed that I've found it hard to be memorable. It was still enjoyable though, perhaps even "good" but I just remember it as mediocre.

    Too bad I suppose, should've seen it when it was hot. Would probably have adored it You can only explore the same concepts so much before they stop tickling your senses... Even if you got the order of origin wrong.

    So I just take people's word for it that this is the movie that inspired a whole range of movies that touch upon the same concepts. Given the time of release it's not difficult to imagine it being ahead of it's time.

    Ford will reprise his role as replicant bounty hunter Rick Deckard but apparently will not be the star of the film.

    Not much is known about the plot except that it will take place several decades after the original.
