I can imagine there frustration of such small but repeated bugs.

I think the big problem here is the tech really: re-compiling maps for such minute additions is really painful. That's also the kind of thing I would get an apprentice to do (would be cool if they hired a couple, I mean for first gig).

Something they could work on to implement is a bomb clip mesh that the 3D artist could build from the start(?).

And for stairs in Source 2 they could make a stairs tool that would save the hassle of clipping (and more annoyingly to re-clip at any change – group, ungroup, func_detail and all that mess)

True. Re-compile times can be long and especially annoying if there's an error at the end of it meaning you have to redo it all again.

I'm not sure what Valve has in-house but here we can unload a lot of that stuff to servers or slave machines to save us from sitting around for hour/s whilst stuff calculates. Valve might have something similar which would make it easier for them.

I think it just all boils down to CSGO not having competitors. They're a top 3 e-sports game and nobody is challenging them for that spot really. On the flip side DOTA gets loads of nice tweaks, balance changes and updates to keep it competitive with LoL. We know Valve can do it but obviously they're putting their resources into projects which need it more.

We also don't know what they're doing with stuff like Source 2 and any other internal projects. Maybe a lot of their time is taken up with porting it over to S2 or whatever. It's all rumours and speculation when it comes to Valve which sucks a bit. Would love them to be more transparent at times.

Yes I'm sure they have compile servers, id had it for Rage and they were much smaller. On something comparable to Source maps how much that improves downtime?

Still, even if quite fast, send a waste of senior staff time…

CS is still great and everything, but I have a toddler and another baby on the way, so there's basically no time for me to sit down and play a competitive match when they could last an entire hour. Operations are a fresh, casual way of enjoying the game for people in my situation. I haven't touched CS for other reasons than mapping during the past six months.

The Major is quite fun so far. A lot of good games. I especially like how Gambit and Navi present themselves at the moment.

I don't choose the #yolo life, the #yolo life chose me. That said, I have a case from a previous major that I'm basing my retirement funds on.

The quality of the games so far has been amazing and the final is literally a dream come true. Both deserve it imho, but given that Astralis still have to win a major I will probably root for them a bit more.

Probably the best final we had in at least 2 years.
