Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

Counter-strike these days just feels like a shopping mall and casino that people occasionally kill each-other in. At least for me, I find the mass amounts of monetisation fatiguing and I've not properly picked up the game in months over it.

@Bastion It's only fatiguing if you let it be. I personally couldn't care less about the cosmetics. I can understand that they maintain an active "community" and are the reason why operations are so popular - which I appreciate as a level designer. Compared to tf2, they aren't really that intrusive.

I would like to see a Valve handled competition to remake reverse group maps and then including them into the game. I like gloves, they looks very nice.

That would be cool. They could go one map at a time, first "The Aztec Competition" then "The Dust Competition", etc.

How about you actually learn to balance your game instead of making daft cosmetic items for it. Jesus bananas.

@dux It is an unfortunate reality that good gameplay changes don't make as much money as skins. In any game.

Maybe the next winter update will be the biggest update ever with Operation "Endless(ly wait on) 8", new UI, tons of fixes, etc.

Also, JFK will magically get revived and be the 45th president of the US again.

    New sound update.

Quote Today we’re introducing a new audio feature designed to substantially improve positional audio in CS:GO.

The game now uses HRTF (head-related transfer function) algorithms to enhance 360-degree vertical and horizontal sound positioning while using headphones.

    FINALLY!!!

Seems to be a pretty good improvement based on the video alone.

Still no new OP. Don't think it'll come before 2017 now :/

    Sound update seems cool though!

Hmm, it would be the 8th operation.

Is 8 the new 3 for Valve?

New sound system is quite an improvement, especially for vertical orientation. Also good changes on Nuke.

Tested it a bit and I think I need to work on my settings a bit to fully utilize its potential. However, sometimes my PC would experience massive FPS drops.

Maybe Valve will gift us operation 8 around Christmas....

Sound update is cool, but I'm more interested in the Chinese bill that forces games to show drop rates. Will Valve comply as they did with Dota 2? Does the 0.128% chance for knife/glove theory hold up? Exciting times.

I'm not too interested about the Chinese bill. I mean, people have done some pretty deep testing in to this and we pretty much know the drop rates already. Although, it might force them to make the drop rates "fairer" since the minuscule chances we have to get a knife/glove drop will look bad on paper and might see a drop in key sales?

That or they'll just separate the Chinese market and give them their own drop rates and keep the Western drop rates as is.
