Motel isn't great competitively, but because its a small map the rounds are nice and fast, which I quite like.

If you like small'ish map, fast rounds and plenty of action, i think you could like Isku also. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/fi…s/?id=198146855

I think this kind of map packs are always nice even if maps are not new or if they don't suit to everyone. This kind of initiative are uncommon in the video game industry.
Moreover Valve has never promised anything about the content of this pack, so I think it's difficult to criticize their choice.
    Just my 2 cents.

I agree with Hashtag to some extent, and I'm glad for the guys who got voted back into this operation, but releasing such a "best of" operation after only two operations was too early in my eyes. It would be much greater to have it after maybe five operations, with a greater pool to choose from.

Anyway, congratulations to Tanuki for having his two maps five times in three operations in a row. I don't know if he deserves it or how he's done it, but god damn, I envy that guy.

For anyone out there interested: CEVO/GAMEBANANA just announced their 2014 map making contest.

500 bucks for winning. Feels like a pittance compared to being included in an operation.

Yeah, but does winning in this competition close the opportunity to have your map in Workshop later for possible Operation?

Probably not, but I mean from a motivational standpoint it just seems very insignificant compared to the buckaroos an operation will give you. But I do respect CEVO for hosting the contest and in a way, the map that wins will win something far more prestigious than being included in an operation. Being selected by a bunch of extremely picky competitive players who will be very critical of the layouts is a real challenge indeed.

Could be beneficial for people with new maps. Focus hard on the gameplay, do a rough art pass and submit. The feedback given will be most useful.

Good for you, because if i remember well, some particpants were very angry about the organisation and the votes... Hope they'll improve the rules this times.

nobody makes maps for the money, they do it for the love of the game and the craft. anyone who does it otherwise is a hollow shell of a sellout.

Well, winning the Cevo contest should grant a lot of exposure, so more chances for an inclusion in a operation(?).

Just saw some games from Fragbite Masters while chilling on my couch. Am I the only one who thinks that Valve's DE_Inferno is actually a bit noisy and unreadable in places? I think Mirage is the best example of good readability imho (magnarlicious).
