Okay, now for my thoughts on the maps from yesterdays playsession, in order of playing:
Sector
This map features the best gameplay, hands-down. It has improved quite a bit from when I tested the a1-version.
Good pathways, balanced weapon placement and good spawn points. Visual quality is smooth, but not too exciting. Doesn't matter when you're fragging your ass off though.
Stack
Unfortunately, we realized within 5 seconds that the map only had one spawn. Probably my favorite map visually though.
Nocturnal
Some cool brushwork, interesting layout and nice visuals. But the gameplay was a bit lacking. The ladders are too penalizing and the weapon placement isn't balanced. If ladders were replaced with elevators and weapon spawns are tweaked this would probably be the strongest map.
Game of Crates
My own map. Felt that I should remove some of the "ladder crates" (ie the ones designed so you can jump one elevation-step at a time) and add more ramps to keep movement more smooth and fluent. Also, slightly more weapon spawns to accommodate larger amount of players. Finally, would be fun with a doomsday button of some sort (this goes for the other maps too!).
I wish I had a job
Pretty solid visuals, but not very interesting gameplay. Weapon spawns are a bit boring, both in placement and weapon types, and the layout needs more elevation and a tad more pathways. Still, it's not too shabby and it was fun playing. Bonuspoints for using teleports!
