I'll certainly play it, but I'm not paying a penny for it.

    firstly: fuck off.

secondly: what does it even matter who the enemies are.

thirdly: the game industry is fucked. leaks leaks leaks absolutely everywhere. why does the movie industry not have this level of childish leaking? who are the cunts doing all the leaking? why are we still employing people like that?

Well you see, Mr Kotick, when you get hundreds of people in four or five plus different studios of people from across the globe to work on a single project, that's a lot of people that need to be fully informed, lots of lips that need to be sealed, and a lot of prying eyes from support staff that might see something they shouldn't

nice straw man. why don't the problems exist in such a manner in the movie industry? i didn't see all the avatar models leaked onto the internet 6 months before the movie came out. i don't remember flying around the titanic in 3dsmax before the movie shipped (pun intended).

before you say it, movies get pirated too, packaging and shipping companies pay people fuck all and they incur thefts which lead to pirate copies. this happens with video games as well. it's irrelevant to the point that during production, everybody's lips are sealed.

Movies don't actually have hundreds of separate people working on them, and for 90% of those people they don't need to be fully informed and get a full script anyway, and the movie industry takes lawyerin' more seriously by far than the games industry, and spoilers FAR more seriously. Nobody actually gives a shit about game spoilers.

oh and one more thing, the modern warfare singleplayer series has been continuously enjoyable, same with all call of duty games. just because they don't reinvent the wheel every 12 months people act like they are being anally fucked by a donkey-sized uncircumcised member.

to go back to movies, lots of average shit gets released, not every movie is a citizen kane, not every movie needs to be. same with games. but i think this is a case of something being popular so it's cool to hate. i have nothing against calling out a bad game, but so far the series hasn't actually been bad. the multiplayer has not been everything i wanted but that's my opinion. i know a lot of people, and millions i don't know, who absolutely love what they have done with the multiplayer.

the lesson is: just because you don't like it, doesn't mean it's bad.

I care about spoilers. Did you see me spoil Portal 2? Seems others care about spoilers too.

As for the meat of your comment I don't really know where to begin. So let's begin at the top.

Just the actors, 1 camera man, and the director right?

For Avatar, these are the companies credited for the visual effects: Weta Digital, New Zealand (most of the work, character modeling, animation, rendering)

Industrial Light and Magic, USA (180 non-character shots, mostly the human aircraft in the final battle)

Stan Winston Studios (most of the props, including the Ampsuit and the Samson helicopter)

Framestore, UK (70 shots of the Hell’s Gate)

Hybride, Canada (graphics for the link room)

Prime Focus, USA (design and compositing of the control room screens, HUDs, etc)

    Look Effects, USA (compositing)

Hydraulx, USA (digital extension shots of crematoria and cryovault)

    Giant Studios, USA (motion capture)

Blur, USA (4 space shots of ISV Venture Star)

Pixel Liberation Front, USA (screens and HUD design)

    BUF (the conscience-transfer tunnel)

    Lola VFX, USA (digital cosmetic)

    Display More

According to the internet, at one point 900 people were involved.

If you think it's hard to keep track of the 300 or so people involved in video game production then how the hell do the movie industry handle it.

    Quote from Jetsetlemming

and for 90% of those people they don't need to be fully informed and get a full script anyway

They will know enough to make any leakpotentially devastating. What if somebody working on the final scene of the movie lets slip that "so and so" dies. They don't need to leak everything, just enough. Same with this latest leak, the game isn;t out there, but just enough information was leaked for people to draw conclusions from.

    Quote from Jetsetlemming

the movie industry takes lawyerin' more seriously by far than the games industry, and spoilers FAR more seriously.

How do you know this? I don't remember reading about someone getting sent to prison or fined for leaking info from a movie?

And if someone can leak something from a video game and gets caught, do you honestly think they would get a slap on the wrists? The reason you don't see anyone punished is because nobody got caught.

Whatever, I'm sure you'll respond with some meaningless shit, which I won't read because my initial question was valid: why doesn't the movie industry have this level of leaking. they have a different business model than we do but people are people regardless. I would just like to know WHY they don't have these problems to the same degree as video games, and how we could implement their techniques.

I wasn't looking for some random opinion that opposes my view on general principles.

    Nah.

It matters because it's fucking boring that the same enemies crop up in the same way.. stupid western stereotypes that Russians are bad guys who drink vodka and sleep with their Ak47s. Also if you're going to include a foreign country in a game that's supposed to be about modern combat, get their uniforms and gear right, merging the FSB, MVD and the Border guards is unforgivable.

But of course you don't don't care about that because there's explosions and you shoot stuff a lot

http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/05/14/cal…-3-teasers/Hand, forced. I could so see this being something they'd trickle out over the next couple of weeks towards E3, putting them all out there seems a bit forced.

So is this Ukrainian against the entire world? And who's developing this? Wtf is going on? Activision never changes...

Come on D3, it's only meant to be light entertainment. I'm no champion of the Call of Duty series — although I thoroughly enjoyed the two Modern Warfare games — but its inaccuracies are no worse than you see in countless other films and games depicting real-life factions. I'm sure if you were to look a little closer at any game that features Germans, Middle Easterns, Chinese, or whatever you'd find no end of screw-ups and oversights. Even US forces are gotten wrong dramatically in many games and films.

It's not something many people really care about, certainly not when it takes place in a fictional alternate reality. This kind of stuff always happens in books, games, films, etc because it's entertaining. Nobody wants a straight simulator where every political war decision is meticulously made according to reality's rules because our reality is kind of boring. Russian invading the US is more cool and exciting!
