Quote from Minotauro
Luxury... In two years in Sao Paulo I've lived under a bridge, inside an abandoned car, in a whorehouse, in a shoebox, in a subway station and in a parking lot. Most of my room mates consisted of crack addicts, transvestites and producers. Consider yourself lucky little man.

Luxury! when I started work at Dice I had to live in this tiny old house with great big holes in the roof. Well, when I say 'house' it was only a hole in the ground covered by a sheet of tarpaulin, but it was a house to me, and when I was evicted from my hole in the ground I had to go and live in a lake. I was lucky to have a lake! Before thatthere were a hundred and fifty of us living in a shoebox in the middle of road. Still, luxury compared to when I lived with my family; we lived for three months in a paper bag in a septic tank. We used to have to get up at six in the morning, clean the paper bag, eat a crust of stale bread, go to work down t' mill, fourteen hours a day, week-in week-out, for sixpence a week, and when we got home our Dad would thrash us to sleep wi' his belt. And you try and tell the young people of today that ..... they won't believe you.
You were lucky. I used to have to get out of the same lake at six o'clock in the morning, clean the lake, eat a handful of gravel, wash the transvestites, work a twenty hour day on imagine games, have dinner in dumpsters downtown, come home, and Dad would thrash me to sleep with a broken bottle, if I was lucky.

At least I now earn enough money to rent a bedroom in a favela shack. Feels like a mansion to me.

This has turned into the monty python sketch.
-
oh no it hasn't!
-
how does one wash a lake?
-
I'd just pee in it.

get a rake for those dead leaves etc. and water filters or those bacteria that eat algae and shit ... and you are all set !

When i started at Grin i had a fully furnitured 110 m² flat for me alone with 2 bath rooms, a big ass terrace around the whole flat and a yacht harbor in the back yard. Felt like living in Monte Carlo or somewhere. Sadly i had to move into something more bourgeois after only two months tho.
Fun fact the flat was owned by some Colombian buisness man and he never came back from a trip to his country. Probably got murdered.

That sounds awesome. I bet that place was expensive!
I still haven't found a place. I'm going down to Cambridge next weekend to sorta get a feel for the area, then I'm going to sort out a house share. Does anybody have any idea how long it takes to find a house share place? Pontus said it should only take a week or so, so I've purposely left it til next week, after I've been to see the area.
-
The rent was 11000 skr. That's like 1100 GBP or 1200 Euro. But i only had to pay half of it since Grin acknowledged that the place was way too big and expensive for someone who just started his first industry job.

Got a little update for you guys!
I went down to Cambridge for the day to search for a place close to work, and managed to find an absolute steal. I'm paying £400 a month for an absolutely gigantic room, all bills included. My housemates are nice but I don't think I'll be spending a lot of time with them.
I'm now living in Cambridge, and have literally just finished unpacking after moving in yesterday. Went for a few pints with Pontus (Pomperii on here) and I feel a little better about being here now. I start my job next week, so I'll let you know how it goes. I just hope there's gonna be a little more to do, it''s a bit lonely atm! Though I'm sure when I get to know people at work it will be a little better.

do the door challenge!

400 quid for a room
fucking christ
-
-
I pay 150 euro for a shared apartment

But it is in the north of Finland where nobody wants to live because of the hard Winter and the never going down sun in the summer

I like it thought!
-
I pay £400 a month for my room, including ALL bills. Internet, gas, water, electricity, council tax, Tv licence etc. It's an absolute bargain for living in Cambridge, which is one of the most expensive places to live in England.
-
Tv licence and all? fuck me.
-
it's a room, fucking cambridge isn't worth that.
-
Plus my room is absolutely huge.
£400 is nothing, Rick! Well, I'm actually paying £384.
