the movie industry is a glimpse of the future of the games industry, except the games industry is more rigidly enforced by business models.
also, some of the reason for why there are no stars or celebrities among video games, are a) not many may be willing to take point and speak their case, b) being a native computer medium, it has inherited transparency from its parent industry (software) and c) from a business point of view, not having any physical stars prevents companies from shelling out extra cash for what would essentially be personal endorsements.
i would also say that there is enough here to predict the future of the games industry, but i'll leave it at this for now (though ill reckon it won't be far until we see the first level design studios popping up).
