Here’s a quickie but a goodie.Big news on the Call of Duty front today; Activision’s sent over a set of dog tags (below) with a link to the website findmakarov.com. The bloody tags also included the message “end the war” along with the details of Sheperd, one of the villains from 2009′s Modern Warfare 2.

What’s on the website you ask? A countdown, currently sitting at just under 5 days. A quick flash of the Modern Warfare 2 villain appears when you load up the page. You may well remember that Makarov made it all the way through the last game. Guess that’s a Modern Warfare 3 reveal next week then.

Apparently its set up to be revealed the same day that Battlefield 3 will be shown. Guess we got ourselves a cock fight on our hands, and I don't mean the bird.

Like I said in a previous thread, then rumours make it sound like some kind of Frankenstein game, 3 different developers overlapping on various bits of it. Not that that's completely unheard of in games, but it definitely shows how serious Activision are about not missing a year.

milk it! milk it till it's dead then cut and run!

still, if activision were in charge of valve we'd have episode 23 by now.

and of course Steam would have been dropped due to being "too high risk"

    DAMN YOU COD!!!

I read that they are going to announce it here and thought for just half a second that "hmm, maybe it'll be all right".

NO, IT WON'T. DAMNIT BRAIN, CoD1+2+4 was good but THAT'S OVER, NOW SHUT UP AND LOOK TO BF3 INSTEAD!

I'm not going to buy MW3. Loved the other games but they're just so cliche and samey... Unless it's completely different of course.

If MW3 is the reason Battlefield 3 doesn't sell well, I'll be annoyed.

It's ok. BF3 is getting my money instead. *

*And Uncharted but that's unrelated to this topic.

well, although it's cool to hate on cod i gotta admit I enjoyed MW2 alot. The pricetag is completely unreasonable obviously (65€ + 15€ dlc "subscription") but I enjoy the cinematic feel of that game much more than any comparable military shooter. If MW3 is at an equal level in terms of choreography I don't mind milking the cow.

Sledgehammer Games has a job listing on Gamasutra saying they are working on the next Call of Duty game. I dunno if that's this. Personnally I don't even know if call of duty is modern warfare anymore or what....If infinity ward owned modern warfare but not cod after the first legal showdown and they now own neither after the second showdown (is this right?) then what does that mean?

    WHAT IS GOING ON?

    annnnd it's a hoax?

Activision, the publisher of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare series, says a countdown website hinting at the announcement of a Modern Warfare sequel next week is a hoax, a company representative says. Activision has nothing to do with it or the mailing of novelty dogtags to the speciality press today, viral promotions that both
