The Grand Tour - Basically Top Gear but on Amazon Prime. It was pretty good, nice to see the old crew together again but a lot of it felt a bit cheesy and forced. Maybe that's for the American audience but hopefully it'll be a bit less cheesy in later episodes.

Watched several The Walking Dead S6 episodes yesterday.

And on my own started Designated Survivor, which gains some pacing after couple episodes. A decent filler for me. The weirdest thing is that it feels very "gamey", as The President is regularly challenged with binary choices that, thanks to the cliffhanger editing, feels like a choice in a TellTale game…

Bay got hooked up in doing actual events films… is he trying to fill in for Ridley?

Anyway I think this was very good, dunno why metascore is so low.

In my mind, I love to think of it as the Blade Runner prequel! xD It's so damn good.

The show is really, really good with high production value. The intro in episode 2 was pure comedy. The old Top Gear is basically dead without the trio :)

I agree with you on episode 1 in that the RAF section was cringe worthy but I think it was a one-off. The "American Stig" needs to go though; or at least shut up :D

I am currently going through Mr. Robot.

Pretty intense series with darker tones, even bordering on "Breaking Bad territory" of intense.

Yes Mr Robot is good. Liked it although starts well and sinks a lot in the mid, then explodes.

Havent managed to catch up season 2 yet, wasn't in the mood.

Just started catching up with House Of Cards, I had not seen S4 yet

Dr Strange was pretty good. Much better than I was expecting. First 5-10 minutes was poor but got much better after that.

I watched it fairly recently and quite enjoyed it too. Think its low score is mostly due to the typical Bay trademarks with big testosterone-ridden men wielding giant guns for 'MERICA. Historical accuracy is probably a thing too, which I've heard Bay is a big fan of neglecting ever since Pearl Harbor. However I found the movie to be a very held back (for Bay) and cozy movie with substance over style. (Can't speak to the accuracy of how things actually went down though.)

I think the movie shows that Bay still have some range and can make something without super fast edits and a sickening orange camera filter over everything.

I had some horrible virus over the weekend so was off work today, binge watched the whole series of Netflix's 'The OA' - I don't think I've ever been so engrossed in a show only to have my perception of it pretty much spoilt by the final episode. Still, I enjoyed watching the first seven, it just left me with a bit of a sour taste in the end.

From Damien Chazelle, If you lovd Whiplash, this one should please you too. It's really, really great, bot visually and musically.

I've also watched Hacksaw Ridge, from Mel Gibson, which is a pretty good movie too.

I went to see La La Land like a favour to this girl that I'm dating and I quite enjoyed the movie. I expected a corny musical and it turned out to be much better than that. Plus I got laid so all in all: 8/10 - would watch again.

A flat out, stone cold, science fiction masterpiece that, as a father, broke my heart in ways that no movie has ever done before. Compelling from start to finish. Truly a work of art.

Finally managed to see Fantastic Beasts and Where to find them and Arrival. I gotta say, J.K. Rowling sure knows how to write a good story; but you gotta give credit to the actors too. Dan Fogler, in the role of Kowalski, does an amazing job. As for Arrival, I have never left the cinema feeling so depressed. It was a captivating film, with an interesting theme: the relativity of time, that kept me on the edge of the seat for more, but it utterly breaks you by the end. When the credits started rolling and they turned on the lights I looked back at everyone in the room. It was like being at a funeral. Everyone just walked out silently.

Really? I thought was a very bad movie. I found it jumped from one story to the other badly.

But mostly, I felt there was just a lot of filler.

They also foreshadowed… well spelled out, who the"baddie" was in the opening scene cut. And the baddie was arguably one, from my point of view.

Rowling might be good at writing books, I dunno, haven't read (and don't plan to) any; as a scriptwriter, I think she sucks.

    ~

Watched Luke Cage and finally also Daredevil S2. Quite liked both, but a bit disappointed as well, DD in particular I found losing all its momentum after 3-4 episodes. The ending in particular was not up to par to three best bits.

Finished watching Sneaky Pete with the gf, I was happily surprised quite early in the season, but toward the end the pacing felt almost like there best bits in Breaking Bad. And Bryan Cranston had more screen time that I expected. Still quite a light show but good.

Just been tonight to the Aladdin musical. I always thought I don't like these things but was very enjoyable. And on a side note, I think theatre and musical are great reference for game designers and artists, what they achieve in such limited space and "layers" is impressive.
