Guys... try the G3 with heavy barrel on mid-long range focused maps... enjoy!

I also noticed that the RPK now has extended mags (200 bullets), whilst the m27 IAR doesn't. Also, the extended mag still has the appearance of a 45 round box magazine (and not a 200round beltfed, a 200round drum or something). So yeah, I'm thinking that's not fully intentional.

I'm not liking this new patch, not 100% sure why, but since the patch came out I have not been enjoying it at all. It has this horrendous network lag all of a sudden. I think I might be finished with it tbh.

This new patch really overdid the suppression mechanic. Now you get suppressed if someone just farts near you. On the other hand, those suppression ribbons just keeps pouring in. And it's funny how the RPK now got extended magazines as attachment, bumping its ammo-count up to a whooping 200, and it got a ordinary magazine too, so it reloads fast as hell compared to the other LMGs (except the M27 IAR but that thing doesn't have extended mags).

It is a very dramatic change really (with suppression). If you're moderately suppressed, your first three fired rounds will have the accuracy of the 8-10th rounds non-suppressed (guesstimation). I still haven't decided if it's for the better or worse. The bonus of the change is that it can give support a whole new role it didn't really have before, which is good.

Can anyone confirm that on 360 the patch eliminates issues with people sniping with super accurate USAS/Frag round combinations? Haven't really played it since they started doing that but am thinking about getting back into it for the new map pack

Slightly reminiscent of 1942. Ahh, nostalgia.

My god. The latest patch turned this game into a crock of shit. I believe the DICE moto is: Nerf everything, buff snipers.

Whenever I get suppressed I go find cover and two seconds later I am fine again. I dunno, I don't think it's that bad. Just put your sunglasses on and deal with it.

No, but seriously... according to an interview with DICE they are going to lower the suppression again in the next update. I forgot who they interviewed, I think the producer, and I don't have the exact quote but basically he said that "we knew where the min was before, now we know where the max is, so we are going to find a middle ground between the two".

I think people often forget the complexity of balancing a game like Battlefield. I mean here is a game that you can play online with 64 players. Every bullet travels in real time, there are different classes....each with their own specialization, there are many different vehicles, even armored vehicles,...tanks, helicopters, freaking JETS and rocket launchers and somehow all of them have to be balanced while still retaining their own individual trademark feel that makes you say "yes, this is how an M4 should behave". On top of all that there are large open maps, tight close quarter maps, but the game needs to feel evenly balanced no matter which map you play. And it needs to appeal to all sorts of different play styles.

I dare any company to try and get this perfectly right on the first try.

Ofc I understand its hard to balance, im not complaining about things like changing the values on the guns, ive been fine with that, its when mechanics are changed/balanced. Every patch is a case of over reaction, it almost like they don't bother to test the patch, your player base isn't there to test your game, that is one sure fire way to slowly kill off your player base.

Mortars are too easy to spam. So DICE make them not even kill anyone without a direct hit, effectively making them entirely useless in almost all situations apart from base rape. Rather than say just add a slow resupply and an ammo count on them.

Suppression isn't good enough. DICE make it incredibly effective and add random deviation to bullets which is completely unreadable, thus making someone who is lining up a headshot miss every single shot because someone shot 10 bullets at them. Rather than say adding a minor additional sway to the weapon when supressed, thus letting you still get the shot you should be but making it harder to line up.

Also Blizzard is calling as far as getting balancing right.

Same here, I kinda gave up on regular mode, and have been enjoying hardcore more.
