I repair tanks as often as I can (I always play engineer), but its a real pain in the ass when you dont get support from the aux gun (he's usually wasting his bullets on the tank opposite to me, not caring about the infantry moving up from behind).

Also, every time im standing with a tank in my facing holding the e key and watching what looks like a load bar I always gets reminded of a Hacker News post that read something like "dont make your users do shit work". The article described how google plus was doomed to fail because the first think you had to do was shit work (arranging your friends), whereas on facebook it automatically just made relevant groups for you that was good enough. And I cant help but think that having a huge green blob in my face (that eventually just leaves me, not caring if i helped it or not) and watching a load bar that I myself can only fill up by just holding e is kind of... shit work... not game play at all.

But then there's the thrill and suspense when me and a friend are holding a street with our tank and i hop out to repair while he covers me and I run around the tank and shoot an anti tank missile just to get ahead (because the other tank also gets repaired) and we end up winning that battle because I multitask so much.

This is why repairing a helicopter while riding in the back feels so good, it almost seems naughty, like you're breaking the rules instead of doing a task you've obviously been explicitly allowed. I get all the benefits from being in a helicopter, while still giving back, unlike repairing ground vehicles, where you're all give, and no receive. Most of the time the drivers don't even realize you're there, their tank health regens on its own (this is somehow even more ridiculous than dude regen, and I can't quite articulate why, except to feel like a sperg for even trying), so their health bar going up is a pretty standard, ignorable thing. DICE should allow you to at least sit on the outside of the tanks and ride around on them, like in Halo. That'd give squad members a place to spawn on tank driving teammates that already have a gunner, too, instead of denying them that spawn point entirely (which strikes me as a very lazy decision).

Trying to snipe is funny. I'm serving a legit purpose for my team purely by spotting, which gets me almost nothing as far as points go, but as far as trying to actually kill people I can land maybe two or three kills a match, since everyone's always moving, which doesn't really combine well with bullet drop and travel time and how much of an anti-sniper I am, skill-wise. I just played a long Seinne game hidden on the third floor of a ruined building in the dark, where I could see the RU spawn, spamming Q on newly spawned russians and occasionally taking pot shots which just mostly got me killed, and then respawning at my beacon sitting next to me. Tons and tons of spot assists, though. Spot assists like nobody's business. Spot assists out the ass.

So I was watching TV earlier and an advert for Need for Speed: The Run popped up, claiming the Frostbite 2 engine is used for that game. Nice to see DICE finally starting to make an entry into the engine market considering their stuff has basically looked incredible and ahead of its time for the past decade.

Did anyone try Medal of Honor's Frostbite 1.5-based multiplayer? Did it actually feel like the same game as the SP which used a completely different engine? That seemed really weird to me.

Well, NFS Hot Pursuit used Frostbite 1 I believe, so it's pretty reasonable that they upgraded it for the next entry (Hot Pursuit was actually quite fun but The Run looks like a steaming turd).

I did try Medal of Honor's MP (beta), and while I can't compare it with the feel of SP, it was shit regardless

EDIT: Whoops, they didn't use Frostbite, they got support from DICE in handling the large scale of the environments tech-wise.

knj: wot? in the server browser?

NFS Hot Pursuit was made with Criterion's "Chameleon" engine. As far as I know that engine was only used on that game (the internet tells me it's based on what they used for Burnout).

Pfff, that's so easy to do on Operation Metro Conquest, especially if you are Support sporting a M240B with extended mags , be on the US side and run up the stairs in the back. Players usually are too damn ignorant to care about those stairs, so at times you meet no defense and can just unload everything you got in the back the RU team. They are too busy crying for health and more ammo for their M320 or RPG spam to notice everyone around them dying.

And then you have real fun (some silly 1000 ticket server, where I was constantly running up the back stairs):

Just had an epic match on Kharg with 2000 tickets, almost unrecognizable from the destruction, so awesome~~wish more servers would do this, might take over an hour to finish a game but it just emphasizes the destruction so much more when it actually dramatically changes the layout

Yeah man, love it! It'll be even more readily apparent with the Karkand DLC, can't wait!
