Explosion in Domodedovo airport, Moscow kills 35

    I don't watch the news and only heard about this after seeing a forum thread on red-alliance.net (Russian airsoft board). Not even a year after the bombings at the two Metro stations. Not comfirmed yet to be by Chechen militia but it seems likely, afterall anti-terrorist operations are still ongoing in Dagestan and Ingushetia.

    Well it's not surprising at all. Russia does horrible things to other countries and that is enough reason for people to get fed up with the situation and blow their shit up. Russia had it coming and they knew it.

    i think the image of the security breach is going to hurt russia as well. international companies will be more hesitant with trade deals in russia, and i'm sure they can kiss their winter olympics hosting goodbye. but yeah, they have done atrocities to chechnya, and putin even promised "vengeance" for those killed. it's dumb really, because the people in russia don't wnat chechnya under russian rule, but the russian government does for some obscure reason.

    yeah i also avoid the news mostly because every time they report about something that i DO know about i realize how 99% of their facts are wrong which leads me to believe that 99% of the facts are wrong two on all the topics that i know NOTHING about. also obviously the news are vital tool in terrorist strategy.

    so boycotting the news is my way of fighting terrorism

    and dont get me wrong here i am all for people being informed and educated ... i just dont want to get my information from these morons about that bullshit !

    i don't think it's a problem to get informed about the news. the problem is that the news have gone public. which essentially negates your point, as whether or not you want it, the information already has passed to the general public. sure you can take a stance, but that stance will only be hurtful to you, since the situation is already beyond your control. the only way this would work was if there was a restriction on when information went public, but that would go against the element of free speech and would probably hurt more than it would help.

    The whole reason for Russia going to war in Chechnya was because of the amount of crime, corruption and links to terrorism in the country and the surrounding Caucasus. When the USSR collapsed they wanted their independence but Russia realised that by doing so they would not be in control of the chaos in Chechnya and that could lead to further escalation so they went to war. I guess they didn't want a repeat of Afghanistan. I find it funny how the US and Charlie Wilson's campaign put heavy weaponery into the arms of the Mujahideen to topple the soviet army and now in present day the US is fighting veterans of such a war that have such weapons, I guess that'll teach the US not to intervene in events that are not of their concern heh.

    Also D3 correct me if I'm wrong but they're terrorizing Russia because of your influence on their state right? Wouldn't they leave you alone and focus on internal conflict if you left them alone? I know that's a naive simplification of the situation but how does it make MORE sense to occupy them?
