Playing Rimworld, it's a dwarffortress with a space colony basically. Still in its alpha state but it's pretty cool
highly recommended 5/5 A++ gold distinction honor seal of approval

I was contemplating to buy it the other day, but then I read that it is super-buggy/far from being finished and changed my mind. What's your experience?
Well i have to admit, i played it free and not knowing anything about it because my girlfriend downloaded it illegally, what a thief.
So you have to consider that I didn't paid 30 bucks to buy an alpha (which i wouldn't have done tbh). I didn't found it buggy at all, it's pretty smooth actually I think. Far from being finished, it's pretty vague, that depends what you are expecting, and on those kind of *simulation* games players tends to have a lot of amazing fantasies; but since i didn't expected anything that was cool. The gameplay basis is there and solid i think, it just needs content.
Maybe wait for it to get content and polishing. 30 bucks for an alpha is pretty daunting.
Re-playing some skirmish rounds on Age of Empires III: The complete collection ![]()
Started playing the original Bioshock again, since Burial at Sea got me back into it. You can definitely feel it's aged (it's a 7 year old game now - time flies), but on the other hand, it's mostly aged well. There's a lot of openness in the design, and even stuff like configuring controls is surprisingly well crafted. The only thing that definitely does not work is the hacking minigame... it gets old, fast. Still, reliving some great experiences!

Man, what a gem of a game!
Also... yeap, that fuckign minigame is mostly what makes me stay away from it. I didn't mind it too much on my first playthough, because if you really wanna hack something, you have to go through some kind of "pain". But yeah... doesnt really help the replayability.

After you get to craft your own automatic hacking tools it isn't so bad. I remembered why I loved Fort Frolic so much, there's so many uncanny things going on. Like one of the shops has an arrangement of 6 statues (3 on each side) of the entrance. When you go into the shop and come back out again, they're gone. Then you meet them around the level. The best part is, unlike the other enemies, these things are quiet - because they are statues. Such a great concept.
Also, just found this:

...Levine already knew beforehand how the entire thing would end. Just damn. I wish I had gotten a shot of it before I burned the whole store down.
i play mostly team fortress classic
and tomb raider year edition
Nexus, STFU and FO.
I haven't played this yet, but the trailer looks delightful:
Makes me wonder why more games haven't explored survival in nature, there's endless potential for heartbreaking and exciting stories. It'd be so amazing to be able to play out the things you see in the BBC's Planet Earth, Life, and Africa; if it were handled gracefully it could induce more genuine emotion than any game has ever managed (like the baby elephant scene from Africa oh my god).
Thrik, I've actually heard negative things about that game. Also, whats with that horrible white filter? Makes it look really washed out, which is a shame because the art looks really unique.

This is why I tried to get into Miasmata... but the problem is that the game mechanics came in the way of making the game fun or interesting. A more polished version would definitely have won me over (especially if you still had to do the triangulation puzzles)
Shelter is fucking fantastic. Very unique and has a more emotional story that 99% of games out there. For me its on a level with Thomas was alone.

Miasmata was just too non friendly to be enjoyable really. It does have good ideas but it's so clunky and unpolished that I had to stop 1h in.
But yeah, I'd like to see more of these attempts and hopefully The Forest will help fill the gap ![]()
Playing some ARMA: Cold war Assault (the original operation flashpoint: cold war crisis)
Got it for free during the Bohemia Interactive free steam weekend (last week), in addition to ARMAII/operation arrowhead for 75 % off; good deal ![]()

Haha
number 2...is down - soldier is history
Back in 2001, I got the playable demo from the cover CD (yes cd not dvd
) of PCZONE UK magazine. I played it and enjoyed it but did not purchase the full game.
When I saw the free weekend, I immediately grabbed it
to relive those "12 o'clock" moments ![]()
Can't wait to check ARMAII as I haven't played it before.
Been playing the new tomb raider. I went in not expecting anything and was quite surprised at how good it is. Also I don't feel embarrassed playing the game anymore because she doesn't look like a balloon.
