i like the genre, gow is one of my all time favorite games, but heavenly sword just does all the wrong things. no jumping? ridiculous scenarios with swarms of millions of enemies? where is the fun in that? what made gow good was its pacing, and heavenly sword has none of that. oh and that part with the girl that can only shoot from range while melee enemies cahrge at you can go fuck itself. worst ps3 title by far.
What are you playing now?

Eh, not really feeling your criticisms Sentura. It's not exactly uncommon in hack-and-slash games for jumping to be absent, just see classics like Zelda and Fable. And I really like the bits with loads of enemies, very satisfying to demolish so many bodies.
You've definitely got some fair points Taylor, the gameplay isn't as sophisticated as God of War. I wouldn't say it has no depth though, as there's quite a bit of skill to correctly using the three attack modes in tandem with the various button-sequence combos you can do. It's quite fun if you don't adopt a 'do the same thing that works constantly' approach. I think it's fair to say that nothing in the entire genre really compares to the absolute precision which with GoW3 pulled off the formula though, so I don't really want to get into comparing those.
Perhaps it's the fact the game was only £8 that's made me a bit less critical. I feel like I've got an excellent little game that's proven to be quite a nice surprise, which I read many good reviews for but the concerns about its length put me off when it was retailing at full whack (exactly why I won't touch Killzone 3 and its 5-hour campaign until it's similarly priced). Darksiders was a similar surprise.

I loved every bit of GoW titles as much as I did heavenly sword.
Hordes of endless enemies charging up ready to be sliced by me? Hell yeah!

Well, I wouldn't really put Zelda and Heavenly Sword together. In a free-roaming adventure game there's a lot more things for you to do. I also disagree God of War, awesome as it may be, does the formula significantly better than

I'm not quite as against it as Sentura, I really did enjoy playing it through, but I don't know if "deep" is a word I would use.External Content www.youtube.comContent embedded from external sources will not be displayed without your consent.Through the activation of external content, you agree that personal data may be transferred to third party platforms. Well you definitely have more credentials in the genre than me Taylor, I can only go off what I find fun and I found Heavenly Sword fun.
I haven't tried Devil May Cry or Bayonetta so I'll probably give those a whirl at some point and find them even more fun based on what you've said. I have tried Ninja Gaiden (Sigma) though and found it incredibly frustrating and wasn't really drawn in by what was happening. -
I just finished Metroid Prime 1 and started Metroid Prime 2... again
I really love those games. -
STOP THIS CRAZY BOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reinstalled Hitman: Contracts last night. Was getting SA on every level up to Barhkov Bomb, wherein sometime after killing the second target (The Russian commander selling nukes to terrorists) his corpse vanished, and his ghost or something (47 just stared at the nearest wall) started talking to me, and then blew my cover as the terrorist nuke buyer. I swapped out to a guard outfit before any problems came up, and blew up the submarine, but then couldn't finish the mission, as the objective to kill the commander had unchecked itself. Pretty sure I was on track for SA, too.

i'm playing ff13. i don't seem to get any exp or anything (cp?) after killing enemies. should I just ignore enemies until that part of the game opens up?
-
Started playing FF13 last week as well after I finished Brutal Legend. BL was bad
. Gameplay was so lackluster and repetitive after the first few missions. Only finished it to see the story through. -
Have you had the Crystarium System tutorial yet? It should be shortly after the first boss.
It's really complicated, it's like the FF10 system except it's been streamlined to the point the suffix "system" is debateable. But after about 20 hours in it'll expand slightly giving you customisation options equivalent to what Final Fantasy 1 gave you on the New Game screen, so stick with it.

In an attempt to get back to video games I dont feel guilty about I bought Red Dead Redemtion
I cant believe it, I actually care about the story in a Rockstar game! So far it's really good. A solid game.

Pathologic. This game's pretty rough to you at the outset if you play the Haruspex instead of the Doctor. You're started off nearly dead, starving, with a reputation so bad the general men on the streets attack you on sight. Here, the only reason some of them aren't chasing me is that they're chasing that woman in the back (they'll rarely randomly do this, rapists I guess. I think it's to make you feel bad that you feel glad they're attacking someone else). The girl is trying to flee the violence. If you kill your attackers, that only hurts your reputation further. The low rep also makes the shops refuse you, putting medicine and food out of your reach. It takes the full first day to finally clear your name, running all around town, while everyone hates you.
It's a really big difference from the first day experience as the Doctor, which is a walk in the park in comparison.

This is quickly becoming my favorite mobile game after purchasing last night.

Finished Assassins Creed 2 earlier today. Excellent game, improved on just about everything that had an issue in the original. Picked up AC:Brotherhood to keep it going and learn more on the story
