so apparently i played cod: mw2 on a hacked server, instantly making me lvl 70. this leaves me with almost no challenge. lucky for me, i only play this game with 3 friends (4 if you add my gf who's getting ridiculously skilled) so it lost little replay value to me, but still. lot's of 12 year old aimbot users... too bad, because it's a solid game. also, wtf man, no zombie mode??? fuck!

Yes, it's the unlocks that should provide the challenge and not the enemy players.

Have fun with your chopper gunners in MW2.

    Playing Syndicate.

    Nice gunfight, very nervous !

But some things in that game are a bit strange... like Puddy said : "It's unpolished".

Btw, are there any MapCore Syndicate players in EU? If you're up for some coop just let me know

Which platform you on? I'm on 360. Played a few matches of coop the other day with random strangers, was alright.

Spent all day saturday playing rock band 2 with my gf. I'm not very good at hitting notes with my pinky, especially when I have to do a combination like pinky + middle finger, so "medium" guitar difficulty is hard for me, but "easy" is too easy, because besides only having three notes they also slow down the beats. I liked singing better, but so does she, alas.

smartass. of course there's a challenge in defeating other players but unlocking weapons, perks and whatnot makes playing the game a hell of lot more rewarding. i'm sure you know what i mean

Tried the demo for Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts on my loaned xbox, but the text is teeny tiny, and blurry, and auto-skips most of the time instead of having you hit A to move it once you're done squinting at the screen. Really, really annoying.

Sure, unlocking stuff is pure "brain reward center"-fun and in a game with a lot of weapons, it creates some sort of nice weapon-pacing for multiplayer. But mostly, I just want the unlocking over and done with ASAP. I find more joy in having a game's full arsenal at my disposal and playing around with different weapon- and class setups and trying to find my favourite combos. I haven't unlocked a BF3 weapon in months but I'm still coming back for more. Primarily because clan games are fun and challenging as fuck and really improves your skills drastically. That's where I want my challenge.

true dat! unfortunately i really don't have time to get really skilled at this game. i remember when i started playing counterstrike (11 years ago!), saving the map overviews and studying them for tactical purposes, feeling frustrated for every non-headshot kill i didn't make... i play mw2 like an arcade game, maximum 2 hours at a time, shared with 2 friends, mostly. i guess i just want my brain satisfied..

street fighter x tekken kinda makes me just want to go play ssiv again. I wasn't really sure I was gonna pick it up but who am I kidding. I don't understand why the gem system exists, I mean I do, but why did it get approved. Also thanks for making chun's specials quarter circle capcom. I know why you did but fuck you all the same.

Gem system is there to monetize, just like those 12 characters on the disc you can't play. It's got nothing on Isms, Grooves, and Arcanas for customisation imo, which also don't take ages to setup.

Edit: People have found DLC combo macros on the disc now. Buying power. #esports

So I’m playing SFxT as well now. I realise I said some unprofessional stuff about this but nobody reads what I say anyway. Just a quick rundown of the storm:

    • [*:2nwz3cak]12 DLC characters on the disc, fully playable by hackers but not unlocked for paying customers until November (who will have to then pay for them, of course). As a developer I know this isn’t that evil but the perception of on-the-disc DLC will always be withheld content; 70% playable for 100% cost.[*:2nwz3cak]Online play is messed up and every other sound doesn’t play. Capcom promise nothing and say this is because the net code is very complicated and supports up to 4 players! None of the new sites I’ve seen copy and pasting the press statement have remarked this is a ridiculous excuse.

[*:2nwz3cak]Teaming up with a local friend for online play is not possible on the 360. Capcom cite technical issues and again, despite plenty of other games doing this (most noticeably Mortal Kombat), nobody calls them out on it.

[*:2nwz3cak]Pre-order gems and Collectors Edition gems give a power advantage over people who brought the regular version.

[*:2nwz3cak]Gem DLC that provides a straight boost over existing best gems with no downsides.

[*:2nwz3cak]Auto-combo DLC that does very powerful stuff. I don’t mind this so much because even the later ones aren’t too difficult, but if it’s successful it’s going to encourage making execution barriers for auto-combo monetization, which is a scary thought.

[*:2nwz3cak]DLC costumes (again on the disc)

      [*:2nwz3cak]DLC costume colours.

[*:2nwz3cak]Dan telling you to buy gems when you lose.

[*:2nwz3cak]Achievements for accessing the online store.

Yeah, it’s been a rocky release. However, there is a game under all this and it’s pretty fun. I think it’s pretty obvious this a modified Street Fighter 4 and a lot of the new mechanics don’t really feel ingrained: such as the gems, stored counter-hits, Pandora and whatever that double team thing is called. You could happily lose any of these and none of the other systems would really notice.

But I played through arcade mode a couple of times, ran the trials, played ~20 games against a friend and did some coop. It's neat. If anyone wants a game you know my tag. But if you do play this game you’ve got to play the Tekken guys. It’s a very free combo system but they copied and pasted most of the Street Fighter 4 guys over without much individual adjustment so they can’t really do much; lots of boring link timing, while all the Tekken guys are bouncing people off walls and being all fancy with stances. Characters like Juri, Ibuki and Rolento work pretty well because they have chains and/or were from interesting games.

Ignoring the controversial stuff I think it’s Capcoms best fighter from this generation.

yeah the dlc part is fucked, but i'm still picking it up for ps3. hopefully it won't be that bad, although the gem system really just seems like a cash in

bought black ops a few days ago, regretting it now. i basically bought it for the zombie co op, which has NEVER worked, either connecting with friends or trying to play a game through an internet lobby. bo multiplayer isn't that impressive also tbh: small maps, lots of lag and -although i ám able to play bo multiplayer - i still have a lot of connections problems. even after trying every damn custom workaround possible (custom .cfg's, custom .nav files, port forwarding, you name it). this game just doesn't feel properly finished. even the singleplayer campaign lags like a motherfucker because it clogs up my quad core cpu and for some strange reason i can't save my progress.. it just feels that every nice experience i've had with this game was a result of me fixing the game first. so... i'm not touching this anymore, i seriously do not have 24 hours time to fix a 6 hours campaign. the concept is pretty cool though

i also tried dead island (yes, i try games before i buy them, even if there is no ''demo'' - this is non-debatable ) and put it on my ''to-buy'' list for next month. there are small annoyances but the overall game feels pretty damn solid and the singleplayer campaign is just lovely it might not be the best game you've ever played but it's certainly worth it's money! does anybody have experience with the co op gameplay?

Really want to check this one out but I just feel very uncomfortable to buy a game with the bizarre ubisoft drm.
