For once then the actors can actually say that it's cutting edge and impressive without it feeling corny. It does look absolutely stunning.

The facial animation and what they have captured is sweet. But as in terms of looks, it seems about 2 years old. But I love 40's style noire so will totally play this.

Interestingly, GTA IV and I Red Dead Redemption used Image Metrics for facial animation...obviously both Rockstar games. This is a different technology and it appears more advanced from what IM could do a few years ago when GTA IV was in development. I already want this game based on what little we've seen of it due to the tech...though I hope that is enough to carry the whole game.

Holy shit.. that's impressive.. I cmean it's not perfect but damn some of those facial animations look so realistic it's like their face is super imposed over the model! Imagine this in GTA5

Because of Film Noir? Not only is Hollywood in L.A. also some famous Noir films played there like for example Sunset Blvd. or Chinatown.

the faces seem very pasted onto the bodies at times. i think this is partly due to the static nature of the head when the face is captured vs. the torquing of the neck/movement of the body.

shame the skin shader isn't up to par with what are otherwise amazing faces, which is a little jarring imo.

Yeah my thoughts, also notice how the eyes seem to be part of the main face mesh and the studio lights are still on the iris texture.

Its a great base to build on though.

The facial mocap is absolutely amazing. This is such a cool thing to see going into a game, def going to pick this one up.

The facial technology is incredible, but I have to say just about everything else leaves me cold. The trailer seemed particularly bad and cliched, practically convincing me to not get the game. The visually also seem decidedly average besides the faces, to the point where the faces don't actually match. :/

Looking forward to seeing this technology in more compelling games up my street, though!

The facial animation is incredible, but it just looks odd the way it is stuck on the rest of the model.

Didn't Avatar basically do this, except they were able to do the mo-cap simultaneously?

This characters just look weird because the head just seems disconnected from the body.... I dunno, it's hard to explain.

Agreed. The facial animations look amazing, but look so oddly out of place that I can't take anything else seriously. The performance on the face and the performance of the voice just completely does not match with the rest of the body or the environment, and I find it insanely distracting. The whole trailer felt like I was watching a badly-dubbed movie.

So thrilled about this one, but I do hope that shooter parts aren't their bread and butter gameplay.
