I'll probably gonna get it, seems like a decent reboot. A bit too much QTE's and cheesy action scenes but it actually looks really fun.

I'v very wory about Tomb Raider's futuer, not that the old was a clear one, but this is more like shoot them up not puzzle solving - what i used to like to think about TR

I like how Lara looks like an actual woman this time, with correct proportions and a muscular physique which you'd expect from someone who climbs everything she sees.

    Game looks pretty good too...

I'd be tempted to get it immediately, with the favorable change €-£, getting it from Amazon UK it's a really nice discount on the Italian price. But I've got other stuff piled up and I don't buy games higher than 25€ on purpose (there are very few exceptions).

Phew! This game was released today, and I have been playing this for 7 hours straight, still no sign of an end, and the savefile says I am only 63% done. Mother of god, this game is long ... which is rare today! On top of the story, the game has so many collectables it's insane, a steady pace of upgrades with new tools, weapons and abilities, and Lara takes so much pounding (no pun intended) you wonder how not every bone in her body isn't broken. This game is supposed to be a reboot/prequel of the Tomb Raider series, and it does it well!

Playing it at the moment, really liking it. Seems that I've just gotten to the part where it starts getting a bit more combat heavy tho, but it's still quite good, even I prefer the puzzle side of it~

What's the gameplay like? Any emphasis on stealth or is it all guns blazing?

A really nice retrospective is up on GT!

As for the game, I guess I kinda got on the hype train. Been a while I bought a game at full price, but this one is really asking for it.

Really enjoyed what I have played so far, but I had to tab out and express my complete disgust and fucking hatred for the mouth breathing shit cunt designer that implemented the QTE for the wolf cave.

I don't want to have to press the buttons exactly how YOU decided they should be timed, especially when all other QTEs that came before didn't require that, they just required me to mash the keys, not play dance dance fucking revolution and time it precisely. how dare you break the flow of the game by making me repeat a shitty section 5 times to figure out "oh you decided to change the rules without telling me".

shitty design. reeks of producer "this isn't hard enough" logic. fuck you. i have weapons, let me use them. jesus christ fucking pisses me off no end. why are we still doing this shit.

you play the experience the way the want you to play it. it's really well done but you don't have a lot of say in the matter. a game designer that wanted to make a movie.

Scratch that about me thinking the end was nowhere in sight. About an hour more of play and I finished it, so it totals about 8 hours of story with the occassional exploring for tombs and collectables for salvage. The percentage on the savefile takes all that into account as well, so don't believe what it says! But still pretty good.

I agree. Fuck the QTE's. Oh look here's a wolf and I have to press buttons within a very small timeframe, instead of pulling my gun and fill it with lead. Thankfully the QTE's are far and few in between after that. The only QTE's that makes sense is the dodge moves you can unlock to cripple enemies if they attack you in melee range. Plus in the end of the game...

    Quote

Lara has a clear sight at the bad guy Mathias, tries to shoot him with a bow, but the area has a strong wind like in other temple places and it flies away if fired. Ok makes senses, but you never get the opportunity to just pull your gun and shoot his brains out from a distance! Instead you gotta go around the area, shoot baddies, fight a boss that is easy as shit, and then kill Mathias ... in a QTE struggle. What?

Pretty impressed with how well modelled her...gun...is.

Although that's possibly a photo. It's getting to the point where I find it hard to tell now.

and again. shitty QTE, but this time parachuting and trying to miss trees. whoever designed and implemented this can suck my fucking dick. it's appalling and i hope they never get to ruin another game again. i almost stopped playing because some fuckwit couldn't see their choices were utterly terrible. that's a massive failure that it wasn't caught and fixed. and then the sshanty town level looks so bland compared to the level i just came from that it makes me think nobody would get past that shitty fucking QTE so they didn't bother to polish the rest of the game.

it's a real shame, each one of these bullshit QTEs drop the score by 5 for me, so we're on a 89 at this point. i think it could have been a close 99 without them. the game is equally as good as uncharted 2 if it weren't for these momentary lapses in design/implementation logic. another month of QA and polish would have prevented it but here we are, and i am angry lmao. buttmad over a video game. fuck my life.

Just finished it, great game. They strike a good balance between making the environments feel large and open with some good backtracking, while still being pretty guided throughout the game. Really dig the combat as well, feels a lot like Uncharted's blend of platforming/shooting, but I actually preferred it here. Love that they didn't include a cover system, made the fights feel much more dynamic and alive as she ducks when you're behind cover.

Completely agree with Rick that the QTE's are especially awful in this, since they're often in the designer mindreading category at least in the beginning.

    Anyway, successful reboot IMO~
