Worst game of the millenium, how can i get the preorder money back?
Duke Nukem Forever
-
-
Really? It's bad?
-
I was expecting it to be bad. It was actually the worst thing ever and a key example of everything wrong with modern game development.
-
I sent a preorder cancellation ticket to Steam Support, hope they can react before the release.
-
Im surprised you guys expected anything less. Everything I've seen and heard about this game over the past year has been pretty damn awful
-
This game's got nothing of what made Duke 3D a great game
You can only carry 2 weapons at a time, how retarded is that?I'll wait untill I find it on a bargain bin!
-
Instead of people saying it's shit and they want their money back.. how about explaining why?!
I mean.. this pretty much has me sold...

I did. The game plays like old crap that at the last minute haphazardly had new crap fads pasted on it without thought or justification, and is already like six or seven years outdated from those fads anyway.

Why don't they just release the demo publicly instead of pulling this gimmick bullshit!!!

-
When does the demo go public?
Or does it?

-
Just tried the demo, not worth the rage over early access and the fact that people are playing before before the "public demo". Don't expect much.
-
Yeap, game isn't that good, sorry fans.

What annoys me the most in this demo is that you can only carry 2 weapons at a time. That limits your gameplay options severely because you always have to stick to the weapon the level designer wanted you to use to beat specific chokepoints. What's the point of that?
I can stand a shitty storyline, bad level design (I got lost twice in the demo) and everything else. But I really can't stand lack of freedom and bad weapon feeling. The weapons are just not fun at all

What I was expecting: Duke 3d mechanics with improved graphics and a new storyline. Why fuck with something that's still fun even after a decade?
What I got: Generic shooter with bad weapons and a duke nukem makeover
I also agree that Jon St John sounds off in some parts. Maybe he got old and his voice changed?
I'll probably get it when it's on sale for $5 or something. Or maybe when modders tweak the weapons and etc

-
That looks... absolutely dreadful.

It's like a really bad caricature of Duke... I know that Duke is supposed to be somewhat of a caricature of 80s action heroes, and that worked really well because you felt like an even badder ass version of Schwarzenegger or something. But throwing crap? I mean c'mon, throwing crap at bathroom walls, da fuck?!?
The levels remind me of Duke3d and games of that generation in that they're open and empty. Back in the day, that was due to hardware and technology restraints, there's just no excuse in 2011. It feels like they made a test level, threw some ai and weapons in it and called it good. And What the hell is up with the mine-cart section, there's virtually no user interaction, why even include it?
Unless the public demo (if there's one) is better than this, drastically better, I don't see how anyone except for "hardcore" Duke fanboys would buy this.

god damnit

I'm still gonna try it out, but that video of the demo does look piss poor. Very interested in seeing which kind of reviews and scores it'll end up getting, kind of uncertain if I'll pay full price for something like this, even if it's a piece of "gaming history"
