Why would you use a rocket launcher to take out the SAM when you have C4 and explosive barrels?

Also I got Gears of War 1 and The Witcher today. Gears of War 1 is absolutely atrociously terrible, and it killed my enthusiasm for games a bit, so I haven't touched The Witcher. Seriously, how could anyone think enemies that take 2+ clips of ammo each to die is fun? Shit's horrid. And you have 1/10th their health so good luck running up for chainsaw kills. And you can't that I could tell cook the grenades, and the enemies would all run away from them as they landed, dodging them most of the time. And you lose all ability to steer when you sprint. Playing as Marcus Fenix couldn't feel less fun to play if he had no legs and I had to control crawling around on the ground QWOP style.

Maybe you're doing it wrong. It's more about tactical gameplay than CoD style shooting galleries (though you can of course take that approach, but it loses the fun). Almost every map has flanking routes which should be used while exposing yourself as little as possible (to both keep from getting killed and because the enemies are not omniscient about your position unless they see you). If you're using the Lancer, aim for the legs and they crumble for a curb stomp in seconds. Grenade placement has to be tactical as well to avoid the enemies getting away. Sprinting is designed to quickly move to cover. It's not meant to be your typical twitchy FPS experience, but it sounds like you're trying to force that square peg into a round hole anyways.

Either way, the original was a new idea that had a fair amount of flaws that were almost all addressed in the second game. Hope you find a way to enjoy it so the money wasn't wasted.

Haven't played it again since that sour first impression, I've been playing The Witcher. It pleases me in the same odd way that Neverwinter Nights did. My only complaint so far is that you can't point the camera in OTS mode in a different direction from where Geralt is facing, so I can't swing the camera around dramatically as I run from point to point

because that was the first time it had even shown me C4 and i had no idea what it was. Anyway what kind of shoddy design is that, if you make a choice you get severely punished such that you have to reload an earlier checkpoint?

What level was it? There's usually another launcher laying around somewhere.

Playing through Mass Effect 2. I liked how they stopped kidding themselves and got rid of the RPG elements. Now I can just focus on killing lots of things. The "Jack" character is really annoying though, a rather large misstep on the part of the writers.

Played some Mount & Blade: Warband. Really love the idea behind it (take an medieval rpg, get rid of all the fantasy and magic stuff, add support for huge parties and combat etc.). I just wish there was more to do in the game and more diverse quests. After a while it gets quite repetitive. But for an indie game developed by only two people it is really amazing and offers a lot of bang for the buck.

The AA gun one, from what I could find there wasn't another one about. Doesn't really matter tbh, was just that it turned my opinion on the game on its head in an instant. Went from great really fun experience, to extremely frustrating experience.

playing Civ5. Good game, the turn system took a little getting used to but I like that I can set city plans while the opponents are taking their turn.

I'm still crack addicted to League of Legends, I really need to go cold turkey and uninstall that game, it's too addictive.

As far as mod files go: Better Heads, Better Bodies, all the official Beth plugins, The Light Mod, Better Books, Soulgem Replacer, Ebony Armor Fixes, Illuminated Windows, Better Daedric, Oriental Weapons, Better Clothes, all of Vurt's terrain/foliage mods. Outside that there's about a gig worth of direct model and texture replacements, and Morrowind Graphics Extender, and four custom shaders: ImprovedWaterCaustics06a, knx_SSAO_v09, BlurBloomHDR_v1, sunshaft_v002a. I went into the sunshaft and HDR shaders and manually tweaked them (turning down HDR, turning up sunshafts) to my liking.

My Morrowind install folder has increased by 1.4GB over its fresh install size.

With all that at once and a 14 cell draw distance, Morrowind averages about 15FPS. It's a pretty slow paced game so I'm ok with the framerate. I'd have to drop the ambient occlusion to get it above that, it's the shaders that really take the wind out of the performance. It's a hack to get them working at all, so they aren't what anyone would call "optimized"

I don't know if the snow particle effect is part of Morrowind vanilla or the result of a mod (I've got so much shit installed) but it certainly looks way, way better than Oblivion's weak ass snow.
