Realize the combat is mashing the dpad and fire button and all will be clear.

":28k4f88y]Loads of people don't agree with that, since they chopped off a lot of RPG elements in ME2.

I dig RPG elements but ME2's atrophied RPG elements are better than ME1's super bad shooter elements. Tradeoff was worth it IMO.

I don't see how anyone would prefer Mass Effect 1 over Mass Effect 2. ME1 was certainly a good game, but ME2's changes were all for the better and most of the "RPG elements" removed where just streamlining (a term kind of abused usually), like walking around an empty height map for hours - a change Bethesda should look at.

ME1 had better storyline, better soundtrack, a better ending and a better villain.

ME2 is an awesome game, the combat and weapon upgrades are vastly improved but the ending is bad and I also miss exploration. Instead of removing exploration missions altogether Bioware should have improved them! Really miss that lil tank in ME2...

The best part of Fallout. I don't know what it has if not that.

Agreed, exploring the wasteland is great fun. Although I'm confused by why you say empty, Taylor; Are you referring to all of fallout or just certain sections?

I agree with these, but I think ME2 is much further ahead in terms of gameplay. But one thing I did not miss was randomly driving around terrian for hours looking for rocks to click on.

I'm thinking more of Oblivion and Morrowind, where I only went in the open world if I couldn't help it and mainly spent my time there jumping forward to level up skills. I never played Fallout 3 much further than Megaton, maybe it's completely different.

I disagree completely. Morrowind had fantastic open world content that was varied in both theme and landscape. I remember the sense of adventure this game would give me. I would stock up potions and items before I decided to travel across the map and follow whatever path it led me. The feeling I got from it was unlike any other game. I didn't bother with the quests until much later. As for Oblivion, on the other hand, I agree.

Morrowind was the nuts, Oblivion was good, just not as good as it could have been. Fallout on the other hand I think was not too bad at all; certainly a step up from oblivion.

I agree they could've improved the exploration instead of dumping it but I enjoyed exploring Omega, Illium, etc. though. Also I think ME2's writing is FAR better. The aliens were fleshed out, especially the Asari (they were just Mary Sue elf-analogs in ME1) and Krogan (They were just Wrex + some cannon fodder), great moments like meeting Conrad Werner in the Illium bar, and fewer really embarrassingly written things. Like, ever find the one ME1 Codex entry on the Asari ninja warrior people? God fucking awful.

it was still nothing compared to the old games. the same goes for new vegas (which, incidentally, is a step up from fallout (thank you, obsidian's art department!!!)). the worst thing about new vegas though, is that they changed the perks and skills you can get, how they work, and how they skill up (tag skills don't level up by themselves, which essentially makes them... regular skills?)

Tagging a skill is a sort of background choice: It just makes that skill start 15 pt higher than normal. Even in Fallout 1 and 2 tagged skills didn't level up by themselves, you they just went up 2 points for every 1 skill point you spent on them. "learning by doing" has never been a Fallout thing.

Though in New Vegas you can get damage perks against bugs, super mutants, a general "lord of death" one, and some others by killing things. I'm on Bug Stomper Rank 3 right now, which means I do either 15% or 30% extra damage to bugs (can't remember which )

the point is, you don't really get anything sufficient from tag skills in the newer fallout games, as opposed to the old ones.

I bought The Ball yesterday and played it for well over 2 hours. It was a bit slow at first, but it's getting better and better as I go. Big congrats to Hourences and the team for getting it released, seems like a huge achievement

New Vegas at the moment. No longer being at home costs a lot more, so less games

    I'm playing Fallout 2!

I never played the first two Fallouts, well i tried but didn't got into them. This time i forced myself despite hating the clunky gameplay. Now after like 10-15 hours i start to really like the game. The gameplay still sucks imo but the game world and story becomes really addicting.

From my "neutral" perspective a lot of the hate that Fallout 3 gets is unfounded because i recognise so many elements. Imo both games are pretty good. FO2 seems to have a deeper story but FO3 has better gameplay.

Playing inFamous and God of War 3 atm!

Infamous looks mediocre but plays very fluidly and it's a really neat sandbox arcade game.

God of War 3, is... well, one of the most epic game i've seen, and I only played a few minutes.

God of War 3 is pretty awesome, at least for the first 4-5 hours.

I just finished Kirby's Epic Yarn and it's one of the best games I've played this year. I'm trying to figure out whether I should start Castlevania or give Enslaved another chance (every time I play it I just lose interest after 15 minutes). Maybe I should finish Amnesia or give Planescape: Torment a chance to see what it's about. I hate playing several games at a time
