So you only died 5 times and gave up? Comeon games back in the day, I would die 50 + times and be frustrated. 5 times is nothing.

No, I died five times in a row and got frustrated but got past it, only to start dying over and over at another spot later on and got fed up and THEN quit.

ah, is it possible to change difficulties at certain areas that become overwhelming? Would be a nice feature in that case.

Lol, same here... I just decided I need to start beating some of the games in my steam list. I picked up stalker on one of the $2 deals and just never got to it .

You two are missing out.. quality game!

I'm beating Painkiller at the moment. I never finished it either, and loving it so far! I love the mix between Quake and Serious Sam kinda gameplay.

I also have SS2 to play.

    I'll bite...

After 5 months of waiting for my stuff to arrive from Canada, I picked up my first PS3 about a month ago, and have been going through the list of must play games on the platform. So far:

Uncharted 2, God of War Collection, Infamous, Little Big Planet, and I picked up my own Prince of Persia once more and just finished it again, and picked up Mirror's Edge too just to remind myself how poorly factored gameplay ingredients and character interaction can frustrate a player.

I still have God of War 3, MGS4, Heavy Rain and Heavenly Sword to go through later.

    Playing Farcry2 as a break for Starcraft2.

Farcry2 has a lot of bad gamedesignchoices in my opinion

Well then you should be happy that you're not on my im or within close proximity.

HP can explain what he's going through.

Yeah, buddy is an annoying prick. D3, what do ya say... You play DX and I play SS2 and we write down our experience.

Furyo, you really should play at least MGS3 before playing MGS4!

MGS4 is a great game per-se, but I think it was a game made to please the fans. It might be a bit weird to catch up on some of the stuff that happens in the game if you haven't played the previous games. But I suppose you played and enjoyed MGS1 right? So I'd say the basic criteria to enjoy MGS4 is in place.

Well I just tried MGS4 for 45 minutes before uninstalling it. Somewhere in the year 2000, Kojima decided to go all cinematics and movies on me, and I couldn't be arsed. Of course I heard all about that back when the game was released, but damn I can't play this and have fun.

I loved MGS back in 98, beat it about 20 times, got all endings, would do speed runs in under 3 hours. That was back when Snake actually did something on the screen. The cutscenes were great for the time, and would act as rewards for the actions you just did, or as introduction to a new environment. Now the moment you leave a trigger is just to enter a new one and lose control of Snake once more. And again, and again. And again after all.

    Not for me.

    Starting Uncharted 2

I started Mass Effect 2 two days ago. I'm already like 13 hours in, and don't feel like I've progressed very far into it at all, mostly because I still don't have Tali in my party, and I want Tali in my party. I've got my Krogan party member back already. Currently using Kasumi as my other party member as she's pretty damn useful in a fight.

Hells yeah, my Shepard is completely faithful with Tali (didn't do a romance plot in ME1).

Not that I ever used anyone but Mordin and Miranda in missions.

I was forced into romance in ME1. I was a goody two shoes Paragon shep and was nice to everyone, and then suddenly after Novaria both Ashley and the blue Mary Sue chick whose name I cannot ever remember ever demanded I choose between them. There was no "Neither of you" option, so instead I chose the sleezy "Can't I have both? Heh" option which got a) A hilarious ass look on Shepard's face as he delivered the line, b) Ashley to storm out of the room and c) Blue to act like I had explicitly chosen her. That turned me off enough to reload my save, and deliberately pick Ashley. Before that scene on Virmire the writers went out of their way to demonstrate that she had turned over a new leaf and was no longer a space racist, so I decided to let her live instead of Kaidan. So now there's a pic of Ashley on my deck in my private room on the new Normandy.

Are you going to cheat on her or is Tali in the party member zone? I tried not to get too caught up in the good/bad rating and just did what I felt like, but still maxed Renegade both times because I'm such an ass. Thanks for mentioning ME2, because it was reminder for me to Vanguard Punch my way through the latest DLC.

civ5... just got a good multiplayer game going with some friends today, it's pretty epic. the changes pretty much made the game more tactic when it comes to combat, which is a welcome change. i also enjoy how the eras are now persisting for a longer time. something i really hated in civ4 was that sometimes you'd spend an entire game amassing an army in one era only to have it taken out by a few enemy troops who meanwhile were able to get gunpowder or knights. a large thumbs up from here.

I'm playing it by ear. Ashley gave me a ton of shit on Horizon and then in conversation with the secretary afterwards Shepard made it clear he viewed it as a breakup, so...

I'm also playing Vanguard. Very fun, though it exacerbates the amazingly retarded decision to make sprint and cover and use all the same button. I've died so many times by charging someone, emptying my shotgun, and then failing to get to safety, instead taking cover on the side of a bit of wall on the same side as the rest of the enemies, getting shot to pieces, because I tried to sprint around the corner. ME2 overall is a much better game than ME1 but it's missing so, so many of those little PC interface things that the first game had...

Run and cover on the same button is a bad configuration for both platforms. I got Barrier with Advanced Training so if I get into trouble I can throw that up. But with the melee damage boosting gear, Heavy Overload and Incinerate I don't do anything defensive ever.

That’s normal mode though, (fun) Vanguard is unplayable on insanity. I gave up on that mode at the Horizon boss.
