Beat Infamous 2. I was hoping for a new game+ mode, considering they put in so much incentive to play twice, but instead I get free roam, when I've already done everything except two hidden package missions off in the middle of nowhere. Think I'll hold off playing through Evil for some time later. Got RFG to beat, and a friend and I are playing RE5 coop tonight.

I have to disagree with people that Crysis is the best looking game ever, Uncharted 2 easily beats it for it's massive attention to detail and huge variation in design.
Game graphics, you say? *obligatory Far Cry 2 reference*
Far Cry 2 is the best looking game because not only is it pretty as fuck, you can be snobby about liking it because most people don't!! ![]()
Jetsetlemming, I meant art direction! ![]()
FC2 doesn't even begin to scratch the the level of Art direction and variety on the environments of Uncharted2. (This is of course, my opinion!
)
I'd post some examples of what I find to be top notch art in Far Cry 2 but the game doesn't screenshot well at all (the grass shadows in stills ends up looking like a bunch of artifacts), and recording FRAPs makes my framerate pretty unhappy. I find FC2's environmental art, stuff like massive plains of grass with every blade moving and casting a shadow, and rivers and waterfalls and forests, to be unmatched, even by Crysis's jungles. I only played Uncharted 2 in demo form, and then on an SDTV, so I'm not in any position to really compare the two though.
Mmm, yeah i understand that, still i think you might be missing my point mate.
I don't mean if the leafs casts accurate shadows, if they wave with the wind, have sub-surface scattering, parallax in the floor, bla bla, I don't mean any of that tech stuff. That's pretty much been there done that for me in Crysis.
I meant ART Direction!
I meant the smart use of colors, varied and stylized environments (from interiors to exteriors, from a snowy mountain to a city, from jungles to dungeons, etc), detailed and hand crafted geometry and textures so they fit the art directors vision, and so on! ![]()
Btw Lazarevic is supposed to be Serbian right? But the crates that the mercs use for supplies read "опасность" (Russian for "danger") whereas the Serbian word is "опасност" ...yeah yeah I know no one cares ![]()
ah ah, really? ![]()
And yeah, he is, after a short google search:

I think I'm trying to get at the same thing. The technical stuff helps the illusion, but the design of the mountains and rivers and shanty towns and how they fit together and look. It's like the same way KL2 treats Shanghai, I guess. Far Cry 2's illusion of Africa helps to further magnify that guilty feeling they're trying to instill in you for being an asshole profiteering on tribal warfare and the lawless nature of the region.
That illusion completely goes away if you play some nice up tempo music while playing and instead it's just an awesome "Let's shoot people and burn down plains and forests!" sim. ![]()
Picked up Gothic 3 for 9.99 Euro yesterday. Already regret it. What an god awful game. Even after years of patches and community patches it is full of bugs and glitches that jump right into your face. The gfx are ugly and the frame rate super low, the combat is beyond stupid. It's like someone took the after birth from Oblivion and made a game out of it.
So far this year:
Supreme commander 2
Mass effect 2
Ruse beta
The witcher
Anno 1404
Ruse try weekend
Mass effect 2 2nd playtrough as a renegade male
Currently I am having fun with Sim City IV

Seen gothik4 at GC, it's not getting any better.
Quote from Pericolos0yup that pretty much ruined the game for me

Jesus fuck..
Quoterunning across a train as a mi25 blows it off the rails carriage by carriage
was mindblowing! This game just has it all! I've so got to get the art book...
Reinstalled Oblivion after my disappointment with Gothic 3. Playing The Shivering Isles add-on now for the first time and also intalled a realism mod to get rid of the stupid leveling system from the vanilla version. It's quite fun so far. Just what i need to get my RPG fix.
Good old oblivion man, best rpg i've ever played. (Not that I played many)
I've eard there's some really nice mods to improve the game even further, grab the opportunity and look them up.
i hated oblivion just as much as gothic 3. heard that risen is the win in comparsion to these two. not an rpg fan my self though. torchlight is the only working rpg game for me.
I found the witcher to be another great RPG as well.
Uncharted 2's train level is so sexy. I like the way they use about 3 games worth of art budget in each of the 3 locations it travels, and you shouldn't even be looking at it because you're being shot at.
Just got back from a big fighting game tournament and entered BlazBlue (and Guilty Gear, but lost horribly): Knocked out in groups in singles, semi's in unoffical 3v3, and played ton of casuals. Great atmosphere, far from the mental image I had a fighting game tournament, and there's something about a whole room of people cheering a giant red robot piledriving a cat that you just can't recreate with another genre or online. But I had to carry so much gear around, journey took 6 hours, stayed in some horrible hotel, and I lived on McDonalds and Multigrain bars. Oh man, I'm not going to be right for a few weeks. 340 people entered for SSF4 and I hear Diago didn't win... but I wasn't really paying attention.
